12 days post op. Incision looks funky

Recommended Posts

Hello. I have attached files. I am 12 days post op and having some issues with my incision. It has been draining some which the doc said was normal. Well now there is like tissue inside of it. And it pops out of the incision. It's not pus, it's attached. Has anyone experienced this ?

I agree, doesn't look right. I had surgery 15 days ago and my incisions are all closed and healing fine. Good luck!

I had that and did just fine. It wasnt infection but I did have them look at it. I had to rinse it with 50/50 Water and hydrogen peroxide twice a day. As long as I didnt have a fever, it was okay. Some people have trouble with incisions healing and I was one of them. No worries just get it looked at.

It doesn't look infected. That tissue might be a piece of fat. They might want to put in another stitch or some tape to keep it closed.

If it is fat, then something is VERY wrong. I'd get it looked at asap.

This isn't a panic emergency or anything. Even if they didn't do anything, it would just be a bigger scar. I've had cuts that show the fat underneath. It just means the cut is through all layers of skin. No biggie. And it might not be fat but healing goo instead (technical term ;) ).

I did !!! The doctor said it was not infected. I had some drainage that had created a pocket underneath the incision which was basically preventing it from healing like it should. You could actually feel the pocket of Fluid. So weird. He drained some of the fluid. And said to of course watch for any signs of infection. But it should begin to heal and it is i believe. It finally has scabbed over some. I am afraid to get it wet in the shower tho bc the scab might fall off. So I am not sure what to do about that part. It's always something I guess ! I attached the pic of how it looks now.

It looks much better! Just take quick showers and blot-dry it off well. It should be fine as long as it doesn't soak.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
