Riverside In Columbus??

Recommended Posts

I am doing well, about 70 pounds down since my 11/12/2007 surgery date and I want to lose about 30-40 more. I just had my 3rd fill last week and have nice restriction. How is everyone else doing??

Unfortunately I cant make the meetings, I usually dont get out of work until almost 7.

Hi MamaT! Congratulations on the great loss! I'm sorry that you can't make the meetings, but would love to invite you to join us LBT's at our Saturday meetings at Polaris. Our next one is scheduled for May 10. There's another thread here in the Ohio section with the details. We have a blast and it's a great way to network with other lap-banders.

HeatherA and the other Riverside bandsters -- what all benefits and things are included in your program for lap band ? I think I've heard you mention something about using the McConnell Heart Health Center for 1 year post surgery? Also pre-surgery if they want you to lose a certain amount before they will give you a surgery date? Nutrition support classes? Monthly combined RNY and Lapband Support group? Fills for the 1st year included including using fluroscopy if needed? Post op dr. appt for checkups at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year included or do you pay a co-pay as a normal dr. appt for those if you are a person with insurance?

Last I heard the Riverside program fee was about $1500 - can anyone verify if that's still about what it is?

:o

Hi Kathy!

The fee is still $1500 I believe and it includes 6 nutritionist visits (3 pre-op, 3 post-op), the medifast type food you're on the week before surgery, I think sixteen boxes of proti-diet liquid Protein Drinks that you can drink post-op (you just add these to Water like crystal light but they have calories and Protein in them), 3 months at McConnell Heart Health and 12 sessions with an exercise physiologist. Your first 3 fills are also included.

This is what was covered when I went. Earlier in the program I know it also included the first year's fills. This was eliminated when I started the program. So please note that the fee could cover different things now. I know Jill just had surgery so maybe she could jump in and let us know if it's different now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
