How much can you eat?

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 months and 4 days post op. I've lost 86 lbs. I can hardly eat. I literally take two or three bites, chew very well but still have a little discomfort when the food goes down. I also feel full when i take my Vitamins.

I can eat a small garden salad with a few pieces of chicken breast small cubes. I can't do dairy any more. I'm usually not hungry unless I'm emotional but then i just clean something because eating isn't an option for me anymore. I eat a little less than a half sandwich and half of a street taco. Please tell me how much u eat.

As time goes on and things continue to heal and relax, you will be able to eat more. Enjoy this time while you can. At over 3 years out, I can now eat the recommended portions for people who have not had bariatric surgery, which means what I put in my mouth counts even more at this point because there's more of it.

Although I'm altered permanently, the effects of the surgery are really short term in the grand scheme of things. It's on us after that.

I am about 6.5 months out and i can barely eat too. It has gotten better definitely but it really depends on what i eat. Lettuce and fibrous veggies and fruit are still hard for me. I do very small amounts. I try to stick to mainly Protein. Very little if any dairy. I do have some off plan things but 90% of the time i try to stick to plan or low carb. If i eat just dense protein i really can't eat much at all. But i also notice the less i eat the less i CAN eat. If i wait too long between meals i have A LOT of restriction and will usually do a shake, Water or hot tea first before eating, wait about an hour then eat dense protein. Im still getting used to my full signals because i usually push them too far and things "backfire" if you know what i mean. But if i take my time i can probably do about 2.5oz of dense protein in about 20 to 30 minutes. Less if i have a veggie with my protein. Just give it time. Im going to just trust the vets and believe things will get better unless i get a stricture or something. But im just going with the flow until things even out. Hope things get better for you. If anything then just make a call to your surgeon and NUT and see if everything is on track.

I'm 3 1/2 months out and don't feel like I'm barely eating, but I know I am. This just feels like the new normal. Now I automatically know how much food to put on my plate and what I will eat. When I look at other peoples plates, I can't imagine trying to eat that much! And then of course different foods are different. For me, some days salads are hard and I can only eat a few bites. My normal is half a sandwich.

Thanks for this I needed to hear this. I will enjoy it. I was thinking maybe it's good I'm not stretching my pouch out.

I'm 4 months post op. I've lost 45 kg /100 lbs. I can eat about 1/2 cup at a time - almost 1/2 a sandwich.

I have 3 meals a day - about 600 - 800 calories.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
