I guess we are in this thing together. Are you all set for your surgery? I think I have finished jumping through all the insurance hoops.

Hello! I just joined because I found out yesterday that my surgery is June 27th. I am getting ready to start my pre-surgery diet. I was fine with everything till I got the call yesterday and now I'm pretty terrified. Excited but scared for the healing.

Don't stress you got this! Mine is 6/23. I'm on day 3 of my liquid diet prepping. It actually has been ok!!

Hey! My paper said liquid diet 5 days before surgery. I started today and my surgery is the 19th. Hopefully, I didn't miss them saying two weeks. I'm nervous now

No stress.. so many doctors do it different ways. Some people even get to eat a meal a day. I'm on day 3 of liquid for 13 days...I wanted to start on a weekend!!

I'm ready!! On day 3 of liquid ... it's really not so bad since it's high protein! How are you doing??

You're fine! Every program is different; my surgeon only requires a 2 day pre-op clear liquid diet.

I'm June 19th, as well...Mixed emotions...What frightens me most is the liquid diet...One day at a time...God bless us all...

You haven't started yours yet? I just don't want major complications, that's what has me nervous. I'm located in Nyc, wbu?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
