Maybe you're gaining muscle? Are you measuring yourself? I'm sure you're losing inches. I was sleeved 12/6/16 and going through a stall weight loss wise but my inches are coming off!

No I know I need to because my clothes are looser and I can wear things I never was able to before I measured before surgery I need to find them.
I know everyone is different and I know this a tool not a quick fix. It took me a long time to come to this decision. I am 40 and it's just depressing when I see people saying they have lost 50-100 pound in 4-5 months and that they can barely eat.
This surgery was very painful and I still have pain when I do crunches where they removed part of my stomach, the gas, the way my stomach makes sounds out in public. Lol

Then there is something I am seriously doing wrong. I was sleeved in 2/21/16 I weighted 311 and I went down to 280 now I am back up to 287. I always feel hungry and while I know I don't eat more then a child I KNOW I am eating more then a 1/2 cup of food. I was walking two to four miles a day. Now I go to the gym four to five days a week I have no idea what I am doing wrong. And help would be great!

So many factors to look at. The weight you start at plays a role in how much you lose in the first months. Another, is what you're eating not just how much. Possibly too many carbs or sugars. My doctor has me on no breads, Pasta, rice or junk basically for my first 6 months. I pretty just eat Protein. Lots of meat. Also it could be muscle but I don't think it would give a 7 pound gain although Water retention could. Are you get enough liquid in? If you are drinking while you eat that would also cause you to eat more at one sitting. Does your doctor give you access to a nutritionist?

I started at 311 I believe on surgery date.
I know this last week I have been eating the wrong food. I got depressed and just said forget this.
I only ate bread, pasta and rice this last week. I cook for the family and they were all sick of eating healthy and I am not using that as an excuse. I just fell off the wagon because I was depressed with my progress.I mean I am so stoked I am not in the three hundreds anymore. But I am so terrified of going back there and putting myself through all this for nothing.
I spent a week screaming at myself " what the hell did you just do you stupid witch" following surgery. I have a 10 pound cyst and my left ovary removed and it hurt but NOTHING alike this surgery did. It took me a long time to get that big. I have pcos but I am also an emotional eater. And it's like I am always hungry and if I don't keep myself occupied I will walk to visit my old friend food. My periods have been light since the surgery. But I have been dizzy a few days here and there and my blood pressure has been running kinda in the low side. I do drink fluids. Mostly water and unsweetened Decaf tea with sugar free lemonade here as that is the only sugar free stuff I can stomach.
But then I get sick of those and will have a little sugar in my tea once in a while it all the time.
I don't have a nut, my doctor that did my surgery actually left the practice and joined another one so I have to go through the process of either moving my records to the new practice or staying where I am. I only actually saw her twice. The first visit and the day of surgery. I see a assistant for my follow up visits. So I am kinda in limbo right now.
As I am afraid of the scales when I get to the doctor.
I have stopped from a size 28 to a size 24 jeans. I was so excited about that but I hate the way I look. My skin is starting to hang worse then it did and it looks stretched out if that makes any sense. I guess I am coming to realize I can't do this in my own like I thought I could......

Go to a therapist. My doc office requires one. I think you need that sounding board who can help keep you loving you. [emoji171] Do you have a hobby? That helps to keep us busy. Do you have Facebook or email? I can share some recipes with you. I'd love to help remind you of why we chose this path. It would help me to.

You aren't doing anything wrong, but that doesn't mean your body knows what the hell is going on. Consider the fact you went for years with excess caloric intake and minimal activity, then in a blink of an eye... going to extreme caloric deficit and high energy activity. Your body likely needs more time than your spirit is make that transition, but it has no choice if you are stable and continue to be committed to your plan.

Also, you are [emoji963] working out now, forcing your body to build muscle!!! Muscle 1) weighs more than fat. 2) retains more Water as it builds. 3) boosts metobolic rate when you aren't working out. 4) improves body shape and skin tone. All are great reasons to continue, unless you use the scale as your measuring tool for success. The scale cannot communicate the changes and progress you are actually doing. We all are guilty of irrational thoughts to assume whatever change we force our body thru, it needs to happen without any natural fluctuations in total weight even when it is good.

In fact I too was in the same boat, I was losing weight at the normal amount, got inspired to work out. Which introduced a stall - 6 week stall! I too went from 281 to 288. But knowing I was on plan, I stuck to it. I could feel and see myself getting stronger and my cardio improve. I wear a heart monitor when I work out and I track 700-1000 calorie workouts. So in theory I was burning everything I was eating, but not losing.

Yesterday I dropped 3 lbs! The scale has hardly changed, but my body is changing a lot. I am seeing a NUT later this week to make sure my macros are ideal for my workouts etc.. but I try and eat everytime I feel hungry, and try not to eat anytime I "think" hungry. My body will usually crave Proteins or salads when it is real hunger. My brain will crave "the munchies".

The answer absolutely is stay in plan, keep exercising, fine tune with professionals. Be patient with your visual progress, and cement your mental progress in the process.

So excited and inspired you are doing everything right! It makes it easier for me to know, "all my sleeved friends are making good choices today, so can I."

Dec. 5th 2016. I'm finding it so intetesting how many of us have hit stalls around this time, including me. Now 1 month at the same weight. I have lost 46 lbs...down from 210. I had the surgery at a relatively low bmi as diabetes is rampant in my family and I was worried I was on that path. Very happy I made the decision to do this. I wish to lose a bit more so hopefully the scale will move again. Pretty happy with my results. Nice to come back and read about everyone's experiences at this point.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
