My surgery was very recent but I'm just curious about a few things. When I can finally start to consume actual meals about how much is it normal for me to eat for example, chicken wings (1 or 2?) Slices of pizza ? Pieces of sausage patties? Just so I can actually get a good visual of what it is my plates will soon look like.

Those foods will stall your progress. It's about 2 months before regular food.

You will follow your surgeon's guidelines the first couple months. After that, you will be experimenting with foods, but essentially will work up to 3 oz of Protein and 1/2 cup combined of veg, fruits, and starches.

After maybe a year or two you might have a slice of regular pizza.< br>

For the sake of meeting your goals I hope none of those things are on your plate any time soon. Did your surgeon explain this procedure to you thoroughly?

I eat baked chicken wings all the time, I am over 1.5 years post-op. I also eat unbreaded fried chicken wings from Wingstop. Chicken wings are really hard to track. You have to weigh them before you eat them and then weigh the bones after to get an accurate Protein and calorie count. It is pretty annoying so I only do it once a week. I didn't have them until 6 or 9 months out. They are a dense protein and hard to digest. My nurse in the hospital was 6 months post op from the sleeve and he told me that he had fried chicken with his family, he just didn't eat the skin. He was a great resource for me on what I could eat postop and stay on plan

I started making my own low carb pizza around 9 months. There are lots of recipes. You can eat the toppings off pizza but I would caution you against making that a habit because later on down the road you might find that toppings are a slider.

When you are cleared for food at 4 to 6 weeks you could probably have 1/2 a sausage patty with an egg for Breakfast.

What are your food stages as directed by your Dr?

I weight all my food. At month three i was able to do 2-3 oz. At month 6 i was able to do 4-6 oz.
Months from now the bad food will still go in. Like whole family size bag of chips is about 5 oz. A slice of pizza 3 oz. Just remember to track your calories, weigh your food, Protein first and no eating drinking at the same time. You got this.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
