Sleeved in December and I feel amazing

Recommended Posts

The hunger we feel during the pre-surgery diet, does it feel the same after surgery? Meaning is it a struggle when you smell foods and watch others eat. I am on day 11 of full liquids pre surgery. It's been tough the last two days not to take a bite out of everything I see.

My experience, no it's not the same... after surgery I wasn't hungry at all. A few teaspoons of Soup ( when I was allowed) filled me up... wasn't hard to lose the weight. Everyday my scale moved.. please stay strong. It's so worth it. Trust me you can do it. I didn't cheat once. I say that to give you strength. You will be so proud of yourself.

Thank you so much for sharing. I am definitely sticking it out! I am so excited.

So happy the weight has been steady dropping for you. I've read about so many stalls, I am ready for them, but secretly hoping that is not the case for me.

I had a stall. About a 2 weeks ago.. stayed the same for about 10 days.. that's ok.. I stepped up my exercise.. I have a Fitbit, that was a great investment:) keeps me moving. If you don't have one I would definitely suggest picking one up! Now my scale is on the move again. I hit my first goal.. u see 200 pounds;) first time in 7 years:)

That is my first goal as well! It's been over 15 years for me. I am so curious to see how my body will react to the surgery, as I know we are all different.

Again, thanks so much for all your insight.

I would say the hardest part of this experience is getting my mind and stomach on the same page.. you look at a plate of food and think you need to finish it all to be satisfied but your stomach says hell no!! It's a very strange feeling. Hard to explain unless you go through it. Even though you are full you mind thinks your not because you had two bites... it takes a little while to get used to that.

My dad and his wife came to visit me yesterday. I was sleeved Wednesday. They ate Panera bread sandwiches, Soups, and chips (former favorite) in front of me and I couldn't have wanted it less... I could only imagine how much it would hurt!

I can't imagine that feeling. I am desperate to get to the other end of this surgery to experience the feeling. That sounds so terrible, but after struggling with this weight for 33 years, I want and need this.

Thanks for sharing!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
