Before I decided to have surgery I wore clothing size 34/36 but really was stretching it and probably should have been a 38 or so at 540 pounds and 5'10.

I tried on some of my smaller work pants, a size 30/32 but they were big so I decided to go shopping and get the next smallest size.

When I went to the store they didn't have any 28's so I decided to give a 26 a shot...it was TOO BIG also!!

I am now a pant size 24!! This is so exciting to me!! I could not believe it! I have not been a size 24 since 2008 after my lap band surgery (which failed miserably). I can not wait to see how small I can get!

That was the best thing to happen to me in a while!!

I am now down 225 pounds and weigh 315 pounds!!

Awesome. Party at doingit4me2017!!!! Great job. Don't buy too many new clothes and don't keep em in closet once you can't fit em anymore. I bought a few brand new pieces that I paid good $ for, and found out early on what a waste. I inly wore them once or twice. I sooo love going to consignment and thrift stores knowing I'm gonna find something cute I can wear and it won't break the bank.

May you continue to experience those changing clothes sizes! I have started to enjoy shopping again. I'm thankful to have moved on from the plus size racks. You're getting there. It's so much fun! I even wear makeup and accessorize.

That is wonderful. My gastric surgery was on 11/9/2016 and I was a size 22, Here it is Feb. and I am in a size 12. I also was never in my life a size 12. Isn't it a wonderful feeling. Someone actually called me skinny. I had to hug them. I was never ever skinny. It is unbelievable how much this surgery can change lives.

That's so awesome! Congrats! I remember the feeling, but as someone said previously, do not buy a lot of new clothes, you will lose more and you'll just be wasting your $. Save it for when you're at your ideal weight [emoji4]

@doingit4me2017 Thank you!!

@Torriluv87 haha! Thanks! I would love a party! ;) haha

@sxynana Thanks! Yeah, I think I bought too much! haha I am going to return some! I know I shouldn't buy too much but at the same time most of the rest of my clothes are too big and look funny on. lol I should try a consignment shop, I wasn't sure they would have my size though!

@AmiLou Thanks! I finally enjoy it as well! I have started wearing mostly fancy/cute clothes because I was stuck in tshirts and stretchy pants for so long I don't even want to put them on except to sleep in anymore! I also have started wearing make up. It makes me feel good. I don't really know how to use it that well though but I'm learning! I can't wait to get out of the plus size section!!

@dmelchThat is AMAZING!! Congrats on your success! I can't wait to get where you are!

@nessa87 Thanks! It is a great feeling! I am trying to control my buying and to remember it's just going to go to waste in a few weeks/months but I hate looking frumpy in big clothes too now! It's a problem lol.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
