Psych evaluation

Recommended Posts

Mine wasn't a big deal. Spent about 10 minutes talking with the therapist then about 30 minutes doing a huge test. The test was pretty straight forward and basic psych eval. It's best to just go in and be honest and chances are you won't have much fuss.

It really depends but mine was like 15 minutes long overall and the psychiatrist just asked me if I had any support in my family and a few questions about my mental history (I have depression and anxiety) so it was literally nothing like I thought it would be...my psych evaluation for my antidepressants was .. a lot more intense but it depends on who you're seeing. Some psychologists take it incredibly seriously and some don't.

Mine was like 1.5 hours long. The test alone took like half an hour or so, but at no point did I feel like she wasn't going to pass me.

All I did was give my psychiatrist the paperwork and he did the rest from there. I didn't have to make an appointment or anything. He faxed it to my surgeon after that.

Mine was two different appointments. The first part was a test... about 800 questions... that took about 2 hours to finish. It was a personality type test.. strongly agree, somewhat agree, agree, somewhat disagree, strongly disagree ... to about 600 different scenarios The others were repeated just worded differently.

The second part was the results of that test, plus about an hour of question/answer interview type stuff followed by 20 minutes of memory test, speed thinking, decision making, trivia type stuff.

After completing the very long standardized test referenced above, the Psychologist simply spoke with me for 50 minutes to discuss any history of eating disorders, support systems, developing coping strategies for life changes. He capped it off with a memory test which I was thrilled (in my late 50's) to ace. All very painless and pleasant.

Mine was this week. Huge questionnaire. Talked to the dr about 15 min. He asked about my support system, exercise habits, recreational activities, and whether I had any former psychological issues. He was warm and not intimidating at all. I actually commented to him that his appt was the easiest of the day. Good luck.

Spoke with the therapist for a little over an hour. Filled out a small questionnaire or two...total, maybe 50-100 questions (did this prior from a packet I got from my Dr's office as a reference guide). Agree/Disagree type. It was mostly an interview about family support, my relationship with food, stressors, etc.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
