Shoot! I think I have a stricture

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody, I will be 7 weeks post rn.y tomorrow. Since last Thursday I've been having the feeling of food being stuck in my throat. Over the weekend it lasted for 48 hours and that was while I was on liquids only. The surgeon ordered an upper GI for me tomorrow. Super annoyed, but what can I do? It comes with the territory right? Just curious if anyone has had this.. did one endoscopy take care of it or did you have to have multiple? Feeling annoyed.

Unfortunately I'm becoming an expert on structures. The esophagus ones seem to have settled into just inflammation but I have it bad at the bottom of the pouch into small intestines. I've had it dialated multiple times (approximately every 3-4 weeks).
But I have had multiple complications including perforations that forced the dr to convert sleeve to bypass as an emergency. So maybe mine is unusually bad. Good luck!

I had this at 8 weeks post up, they thought it was a stricture. Went in for the upper endo and it ended up being an ulcer. If that happens message me. It's an entirely different beast good luck!!!

I've had a couple of strictures. Yesterday the Dr inserted a stint. At first I felt great but now I have that same feeling like the food is getting caught. I'm so sick of all of this. I want to go back to one day pre-op and say no to the surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
