2 yrs post op Gastric sleeve. New reflux's issue

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

Quick questions for sleeve vets. I never had any gastric reflux issues prior to surgery. 1 yr post op I had my gallbladder removed (That was 11/15)

Now, for the past 8 or so months I get the worst reflux I have ever had. My surgeon says to take an OTC like Prilosec or Zantac.

Well, that's not working so well.

What's next? I can't live with this painful reflux that causes vomiting for the rest of my life. Have any of you experienced this? I won't have to have a bypass will I? Yikes! lol

I'm sorry to hear that you're having to deal with this new issue.

I've had GERD since way before my VGS surgery and take the generic for Prevacid daily (prescription strength) so it's just been a fact of life for me. It is believed by a couple of my doctors that non-acidic GERD is what caused me to develop subglottic stenosis. After receiving that diagnosis, and the subsequent surgery to remove the stenosis, I was precribed Prevacid twice daily for a few years; now I only take it once daily unless I find myself having a period of breakthrough GERD then I'll revert back to twice daily for several days. Again, for me, it's just a fact of life that I've accepted.

I think you should see a gastrointestinal consultant to get a proper diagnosis and treatment.

I called my surgeons office shortly after I posted this. I have an appointment on the 14th.

After all the hours that have passed since I wrote this post, my stomach is still unsettled. Very strange to me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
