Need some advice on what to do with my clothes that don't fit. I seem to be having a hard time parting with them even though they are so big and hopefully I will never wear them again. They are sitting in 7 huge plastic bags in my spare bedroom and I know I have to do something. My issues are as follows:

1) these clothes served me well and there are still pieces that I love.

2) I spent a ton on money on these clothes.

3) God forbid, what if I need them again.

4) where do i actually get rid of them?

Did/does anyone have this issue? Advice needed.

I had the same issue except when I was gaining weight. I had all these smaller clothes that I loved. At first I kept them because I thought for sure id use them again one day. Boy was I wrong. I got rid of a little at a time. First the things I never really liked. And then the things that I did kinda like because I wasn't losing any weight. And finally I only had a few pieces left that I really really loved and hoped id fit again. But as time went on I eventually got rid of those too because it was just clutter at that point. I brought my clothes to goodwill.

Anyways, it's kinda hard to let go. But just know that you'll be getting even cuter clothes down the line!

I took my nice work clothes to Dress for Success. They provide low income women with professional clothes for interviews and jobs. It can make a huge difference in a woman's life, and they always have an urgent need for plus-sized things. Giving away the pieces I loved was hard, but it was a lot easier giving them to a good cause. My dad bought me a wool toggle coat, 3x, before he died. It killed me to get rid of it, but I take comfort knowing it'll go to great use and may change a woman's life.

My favorite dress (a fancy Star Wars dress) I cut the top off of and put in a new waistband and cumberbund, so now I have a really cool skirt that fits.

My tees I am using as night shirts.

If it is something I adore that is only a size or two too big, I had it altered. I've found that much past that doesn't alter well, as the proportions are all off. I, like Vinasu, give my too large clothing to Dress for Success if it is professional, and to a local thrift store for casual items. Dress for Success is especially great, because at least here, they said they rarely get nice plus-size donations, so I love the idea that somewhere, a woman can get a professional career without feeling uncomfortable in too-tight garments. I try not to hold onto anything much, as I want to move forward and not look back. I DID, however, keep one pair of pants and one sweater from my largest size worn. When I need motivation, I try them on and they look like tents, now.

Send your nice things to a consignment store, at least you're getting some money for them. Also consider a clothing swap with people from your wls support group? Embrace the new you, you worked hard for it. ;)

My clothes that don't fit were donated to a homeless shelter. They said they are always in need of plus sized clothes. I could have sold them, but I was happier to know that some people who could really use them are getting them.

My local Bariatricc meetup group has a clothing swap, and I donated there. I've also donated to Goodwill and to a local organization that dresses women at shelters so they can interview for jobs.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
