Hello,

I just got banded set 12, 07 at a start weight of 260

The first week, i was on Clear liquids, i lost 10 lbs and now my weight shifts between 248 - 251 daily! i feel like i am going to just gain weight once i start eating! I am supposed to start mushy foods this week, but as hungry as I am, I want to remain on Protein shakes! (But Im too hungry to do so)

ALSO ---

I got sick the other day and felt like throwing up. It was like dry heaves (sp??) but nothing would come up.. is the band blocking the junk from coming out??

thanks,

Lisa

Don't weight yourself daily! It will only cause heartache and despair! My scale didn't move for a week....it baffled my mind because I was doing everything I was supposed to. There is a week out of the month that I gain three pounds.....pay attention to your cycles. If you're hungry, increase your proteins! I love cottage cheese so I make sure I have at least one serving a day and it increases my Protein by 12 grams right off the bat! Another trick I use is to put unflavored Protein powder in sugar free pudding. It feels like I'm cheating! Make sure you are getting 60-80 grams a day (only 25-30 max at a time) Keeping your Protein level up will prevent you from feeling hungry. Mushy foods were a god send to me, I was tired of liquids. I still drink at least one Protein Drink a day, usually for Breakfast.

When you felt sick the other day, it sounds like you were PBing. Search the threads for that one, I've only done it once right after surgery. I was eating a sugar free popsicle and was not aware to stay away from an ingredient called sorbitol. I experienced tons of saliva and some dry heaves. It sucked!

Good luck to you Lisa....don't worry about those numbers! This journey is a marathon, not a race! Just keep jogging along!

thank you so much for those words of wisdom. I try not to weigh myself daily - but i feel like that darn scale screams my name everytime i walk into the bathroom. I think I will put in away and just bring it out on saturdays or something so i dont need to see it daily!

On another note, I have increased my walking, so I am almost up to where I used to be in excersize before my surgery. Today is day 13 since the surgery - I need to give myself time!

Thanks again!

Lisa

:clap2:HI LISA, I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE scales CALLING YOUR NAME LOL. MINE ARE UNDER THE BED AND ALTHOUGH I PROMISE MYSELF I WON,T GET THEM OUT EVERY DAY THERE I AM ON MY HANDS AND KNEES SCRABBLING UNDER THE BED FOR THEM:faint: BUT THE OTHERS ARE RIGHT I TOO GAIN WEIGHT EVERY MONTH AT THAT TIME! BUT IT,S NOT REAL WEIGHT JUST Fluid SO LETS TRY NOT TO WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT IT OR WHAT THE scales SAY, IT,S MORE IMPORTANT HOW WE SEE OUR HEALTH IMPROVE AND ALL THE BENEFITS THAT BRINGS,

GOOD LUCK:kiss2:

Aloha Lisa, I guess when I see you on friday we will have something to talk about. I do don't see the scales moving at all. I am so discouraged. I also weigh myself often, and Dave keeps telling me to stop, but I just cant, I am afraid that if I dont and then step on the scale at the end of the week and its a gain, I will freak out. See You friday.

Just remember, the first few weeks until you are able to get a fill is time for your body to heal not for weight loss. That wont truly start until after your begin to get fills. During this time just follow your doctors directions, make sure you get enough Protein and let your body heal. Some people will gain during this time but it isnt something to worry about.

Weigh yourself once a week max to cancel out the natural variations that everyone goes through on a day to day basis. This is especially true for women as a woman's body goes through more regular changes than a man's. You'll drive yourself crazy if you weigh everyday.

If its that big an issue for you, give the scale to your SO, let him keep it and then have a weighing ceremony once per week where he/she gets it out and you do it together.

i went home last night with the intention of grabbing my scale to put it far away .. but i had to jump on it that one last time (LOL). I chose Friday mornings as my weigh in time - because if i did that on the weekend, Im affraid that those extra weekend pleasures (foods) i have such a hard time ditching will get me really down. This way i have all week to lose and i wont see any gains (weight wise).

thanks so much for the info and suggestions!!!

Btw, on a side note - how do I add the ticker thing to my signature????

Don't sweat the weight loss right now. Your band isn't even working yet, and won't be until probably after your first or second fill, so don't beat yourself up for not losing a lot right now. You really haven't even begun yet. You are still in "bandster hell" and have a while to go. Do NOT get discouraged!!!

:omg:

Is there a specific section on the board that deals with this period of time of adjustment? I figure it might be a time of adjustment "hell" - just don't kknow where it starts!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
