Disappointed Surgeon

I was sleeved 9/26/16. I just had my 4 month post op appointment with my surgeon and he was pretty disappointed with the amount of weight I had lost. I don't know how to feel about this because I have done what I am supposed to do ( except for taking the Vitamins like I'm supposed to. They do not sit well in my stomach). I am even going to the gym and my mobility is still limited. I fit back in clothes I haven't worn in ages. I have way more energy. I guess his disappointment just threw me back into reality that I still have a long way to go and maybe I need to work a bit harder.

I hate when surgeons put time constraints on weight loss. Everyone loses at a different pace for a variety of reasons and making patients feel bad about not losing "quickly enough" just caused undo stress. You've lost 45 pounds in 4 months! I think that's great! As long as the scale is still trending downward, what more can you ask?

I do think you should try different brands and combinations of Vitamins to try to get those in. It's very important not to develop any deficiencies.

You have lost a little over 10 pounds per month, I think that's wonderful. Stay true to yourself and check into what @@JamieLogical said about Vitamins, they are so important.

agree with Jamie,

Check out Dr. Matthew Weiner's videos. He says there is no way to predict how fast or how much someone will lose because so much is dependent on factors outside your control. he has had super compliant patients who lose slowly and ones who aren't compliant at all lose fast. You aren't slow. You are losing at the same rate as me (faster actually), RNY and my dr's office thinks I'm fast and I'm super compliant, exercise and the whole 9 yards. I use patch Vitamins by the way. you should try them.

Thanks for the advice on the Vitamin Patches. I'm going to look into them. The chewables are just awful ????

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
