Virginia Medicaid

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this whole process, where do I start? How do I find hospitals of excellence that are required? What is a medically supervised weight loss program? Can I do it with my PCP or do I need to go to an official center? I'm so confused!

You will want to talk to your PCP, and visit bariatric centers that accept your insurance.

Do you have a phone # on your insurance card? If so, give them a call and see what they say. Google will be a help as well.

Be prepared in case things to go not-so-smoothly, so you won't be too disappointed if there are some hurdles to jump through.

What part of VA do you live in?

I had an accident about 2 years ago and just got approved for disability so my Medicaid is still being processed. I really wanted to start the "6 months medically supervised weight loss plan" early so I could get my surgery sooner. But what I've learned from UVA it's a process I have to do thru them basically so it's going to keep pushing things back before I can even get documented weight loss started. I thought I could do it thru PCP but they're telling me it's going to all be a longer process, so here I wait, wasting time. If I go much lower with my weight I won't qualify as my BMI now is 35.4

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
