Nervous- getting sleeved in 3 days

Recommended Posts

Was anyone scared or nervous for surgery? I'm not scared about the surgery I'd say the after surgery and not knowing what to eat and so on. I believe my biggest obstacle will be remembering to eat as I struggle with eating now due to my medication that I take that suppresses my appetite. I also work as a traveling night nurse. Anyone have suggestions on what is good "pureed" food and what you use for a Protein drink as I don't want to buy one that taste like chalk!

It's very normal to be nervous about the surgery and what life will be like post-op. I think all of us go through a mix of nervousness and excitement.

As for some good puree ideas, this site has some good recipes (especially the baked ricotta!):

Hello,

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!

It is natural to feel nervous or scared. I wasn't scared or really nervous either... I was just very excited for about an entire week before surgery!

Have you tried Premier Protein shakes? I think a lot of people like them. That's what I started drinking on my 2 week pre-op diet and I still have part of a shake a day now at 10 weeks out. They don't taste chalky at all. They come in a few different flavors, my favorite is chocolate. You can get a decent price on them at Walmart and an even better price for a 12-pack of shakes at Sam's Club. They are great because 1 shake has 30 grams of Protein.< /p>

Best wishes on your surgery and a speedy recovery!

My pureed stage was from Day 18-27 post-op. I did continue to eat some of the recipes from my puree stage well into my soft food stage, though.

This may seem crazy, but my wife bought a few small jars of baby food (turkey, chicken, beef etc). 6grams of Protein, 0sugar, 0 carbs and may be a perfect serving size for the new belly! Gonna clear with the Nur to be sure it's ok still. This would be in the purée stage of course...just planning ahead.

My NUT told me sometimes the shakes taste really sweet after having the surgery so she suggests diluting them with a little bit of milk.

Be excited! I was never nervous so I have no advice to give of how to overcome the nerves. I will say I have NO regrets.

Heading to Mexico Friday, surgery on Saturday. Nervous as well! Worried about how long recovery will take.

How did your surgery go?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
