Breaking Up With My Scale

Recommended Posts

I have been that person that has to weigh daily. Now I'm trying to stop that. I know I'm eating according to my personalized plan from my nutritionist. I work out regularly . Inches are coming off. All I need to do is stop obsessing about the number on the scale.

With that being said the scale will no longer be out in the open in the bathroom so I am not tempted to jump on it. So long scale. We will see each other once every two weeks.

I was never one to weigh daily but a lot of my friends were. They drove themselves nutty with numbers. I refused to do that. I'm one to forget to weigh and my scale is collecting dust somewhere. I know the biggest change will come with how we feel, our clothes fit or don't fit, etc. So, that's what I'll go by with the occasional doctor visits that'll tell me what the number is. Good for you btw...I thnk you'll find a better sense of peace without the numbers driving you loco. :)

I check ever day as well, it's a bad habit. I really need to put mine away. I recently hit a stall and it's even more frustrating.

I threw my scale out years ago. I wait until i go to my doctors office to weigh. I can tell by the way my clothes fit and are getting loose, that i am losing. I was told along time ago that it is bad for your progress if you are constantly weighing, especially if you dont lose anything, then you get discouraged and tend to cheat, and then feel guilty. Then the cycle begins. Weighing every 2 weeks is desirable.

I use Trend Weight to track my weight. I think that's more accurate if one days weigh frequently. Day to day fluctuations are common. It averages them out. One of my New Year's resolutions was never to weigh myself on consecutive days. So far so good!

I was just thinking about this myself. I have generally weighed myself once a year for the last decade. Why change it up? Well... maybe I'll move it to once a month after the surgery. (Fingers crossed).

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
