I've had a nutritionist and Surgeon both tell our support group this is normal for short term (meaning 1 to 3yrs) and eventually it evens out , they also said it.can take in some cases twice as long for skin to tighten up though some will need surgery if it's to excessive and bothers them.

I'm 41 and 1 yr post op. I'm 5'2" and was 242 when I started my 2 week preop diet, 225 day of surgery. I met my personal goal of 145 around the 9 or 10 month mark. While I'm still technically overweight, all my health issues have resolved and I like the way I look/feel in clothes. I have very minimal sagging skin on my thighs and arms (batwings). I thankfully do not have wrinkles or sunken in cheeks. I actually look way younger post op. When I was researching preop, it seemed like those who looked the healthiest post op either ran or cycled. I kept that in mind and started walking the indoor track at 2 weeks out, doing combo walk/jog at 4 weeks and spin class at 6 weeks. I also do resistance occasionally. On the subject of hair, I'm mixed (half black half white) and have thick, curly hair. I went natural and stopped relaxing several years ago. I did have some thinning (mostly my edges) months 3-7, but it isn't noticeable to anyone except me and my stylist. Now that it's growing again, like @@JamieLogical mentioned, you can see the fine new growth in my edges so I have to use edge control when I pull it back. The photo I'm attaching is the day I started my preop diet and on my 1 yr surgiversary last week. And the other is just a face shot, so you can see my edges. post-267276-1485552229693_thumb.jpg post-267276-14855523273072_thumb.jpg post-267276-14855523928197_thumb.jpg

OMG ladies. If you're worry about looking older then get some fillers where your face lost volume. Volume works wonders & only costs $450. It increases volume in your cheek bones that will lift sagging facial skin. There's all kinds of nonsurgery things you can have done to your face. If you want a face lift then save your pennies & get one. Women do it all the time to freshen up their looks withe fillers, face peels & lifts. My sister does & she's 61 but looks 20 years younger. There's no magic anything. All you can do is improvements.

The most important thing is if you are healthy and feel good at 170-175, then start maintaining when you get to that point. You may lose more than that, but you can then tweak your food intake and liquid intake to bump it back up in healthy ways. This isn't solely what a BMI scale says, because every scale is different, and if we're honest, not even completely accurate. It's more of a way to estimate than anything else. A woman my height (5'7) and age (26) may be comfortable and look great at 120lbs.... I can't imagine being that small. If my body let's me drop down to that, I'd let myself just to see what it looks and feels like. But that's where if it didn't feel right to me, and I wasn't happy, then I'd change my diet to allow myself to gain weight back in a healthy way.

Yes, the weight loss will cause your face to look thinner, get a few lines and look a bit older. But that's a small price to pay when considering how hot, sexy, agile, confident, comfortable and happy you'll be.

I thought I wanted to get to 160-165 (from a high of 271). But I've leveled out ~180-185 because I don't want my face to get much thinner. With the really full face, I looked younger, but I was FAT, miserable and in hiding, ashamed to look at myself, etc.

But, too, people still don't guess my age because I still look younger than I am. I'm 61; people think I'm in my 40s, so maybe I'm not as sensitive about it. But being obese and all that that means...vs. being thin, happy, with a few wrinkles (and less plump [now, ~saggy] boobs)? I take the latter. [i do miss my plump breasts, but ain't nobody complaining; the nips still work/respond, so... ;-)

I was told by physicians that making sure you get Protein helps with losing fat instead of muscle....which contributes to look you mentioned. I too am hoping to continue to feel & look healthy & not sickly. So let's hope Protein & exercise helps. (Hope drs are right )

Thanks so much! You're very welcome. That's why I put up the pic with my hair in case someone had a similar texture to mine.

I'm half white and black too. Hair just like that, if I went natural. Lol. I can't stand to comb it out all the time, thus I relax. But I suspect during the "hair loss phase" I probably shouldn't. Lol. Hoping I won't lose too much if any anyway. Great job on the weight loss. You look great!

@@krissyvsg

Hi! I was also 286 when I started this journey too! And I'm 168 now:-) And I'm also 46. Let's just say all my friends who were getting fillers and fat injections I still looked 10 years younger "naturally" (ie all that extra fat really plumped up those wrinkles). And I will admit that at first I did feel as if I aged 10 years in 10 months. But honestly, and I'm 17 months post-op now, its not so bad. I look pretty damn good for 46. I'm NOT getting carded anymore, which is a bummer, but honestly, I was 40 years old and still getting carded, c'mon?!? I have some friends my age who look better (and most have had at least MINOR work done) and some who look older than me. When I first started I felt like my stomach was deflating so much I would have a huge panny, and I do have a teensy one, but not worth a Tummy Tuck. Yes I look like I'm in my 40s, but guess what? I am in my 40s. Could we all use a little laser or filler here or there when we are in our 40s? I sure could, but its not in my budget right now. I'd rather spend it on a trainer or gym and get stronger:-)

Also you can take up to 10mg or 10,000mg of Biotin a day once you are able to take pills without crushing them again. Also take some Iron 2 hours before or after anything else that contains Calcium. That and taking ALL of your other Vitamins really WILL help with the hair. It takes 3 months for the effects to show but believe me it works. We all had a little hair fall at 3-9 months out. Mine has come back.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
