Is it common to get pregnant following Gastric sleeve?

Hey there guys!

I'm still pre-op... having surgery on Feb 13th.

I've heard a lot of people talk of the rush of hormones following major weight loss.. does fertility increase? Are accidental pregnancies common?? I've got an IUD but I am terrified that I will end up pregnant following my surgery .

Has anyone else felt this way??

    Yes! Fertility can increase drastically. It is VERY VERY important to use back-up birth control in the first couple of months post-op. I was on birth control the whole time, but I also used condoms for the first two months.
