What to bring to hospital?

Recommended Posts

Gas X strips are something that are recommended a lot on this board for gas pains. I definitely bought some, just not sure if it is OK to use them in the hospital. I'm pretty sure my hospital doesn't allow the use of any over the counter medications.

I loved the Gasx strips, good for gas and sooooooooo lovely to freshen up your mouth too.

For us in the UK, GasX strips are Windeze tablets and Bisodol (trapped wind part).

Don't think we are allowed them though after this type surgery through as they are chalky tablets that need crushed in our mouths.

I had my surgery 2 days ago, I took a heap of things I didn't need but made me feel safe that I had those extra bits and bobs. They key things for me was, lip balm (mouth was all dry from after the surgery and the oxygen etc.), baggy trackies (so nothing was tight around my waist), pair of thongs or slippers (theres no way i was doing laces up afterwards) and my phone and charger (to distract me)

Good luck. Hope all goes well x

Gosh I guess I need to start getting things together. I have to stay 3 days and my fiancé is staying with me his only request is to bring the ps4 which I'm fine with because I can watch good movies with it : ) I've been looking for a nice warm robe because I'm always cold, I know I need a extension cord, oh my laptop, I hear ppl say sports bras are better what do you ladies think? And can I just wear leggings during the day with a lose top? Or do I have to keep on the hospital gown????

I just had my surgery on Friday. I think your packing bag depends a lot on what your hospital supplies. My hospital had everything! I really only needed a phone charger, hair tie and a outfit to wear home (yoga pants, underwear and soft loose t-shirt). I also wore a sports bra home but that is personal preference. I was fine wearing the hospital gowns and gripy socks they provided. I didn't wear makeup. They gave me a disposable toothbrush and soap. I also didn't need entrainment basically because the meds made me high as a kite and I napped a lot. LOL!

My doctor does not recommend gas x or abdominal binders. So I have avoided those.

I guess the hospital gown bit is dependamt on your hospital. I was only in overnight and was so much easier wearing the gown. Maybe call the hospital where you are going to and check in on that type of information

I took way too much stuff. books, selfie stick (WTH was I thinking?). The only things I really needed were going home clothes, a brush, my celly cell (Smartphone for all of you who weren't teenagers in the early 90's), and a toothbrush. I was in overnight.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
