Hi WTG

I am now 5 weeks post op and have lost a stone - lost in first 2 weeks and not lost a single pound since but on the positive side I have not gained any either

Everyone I have talked to has said this is perfectly normal and that as my body is wondering what the hell is going on with the food reduction it is in starve mode - holding onto everything just in case it not gonna get anymore

I have bought myself an exercise bike to gonna try and do 30 mins every day and try and give the weight loss a kick

Like you I can pretty much eat anything I want - I have had one really bad blockage - in a meetin at work and was eating a piece of toast and it got stuck - oh my god I never want to experience that ever again - thought I was dying

I am trying to limit my calorie intake but it has been really difficult this last week but gonna keep going

Getting my first fill on Thursday - flights permitting - and hopefully that will be Step 2 on the journey to the new Skinny me - I am going to book my Wedding this week so will give me a goal to aim for

Hope you are well and don't worry about the slow start I think it is perfectly normal and appears to happen to everyone

Kerry xx

Hey Kerry,

Thanks luv, you've reassured me loads there! I felt like I'd been 'done' because I can eat rather too well at the moment.

I hope you get your fill done, not sure you'll be flying though :)

I'm nervous about getting mine, I've wangled it so that I visit clients afterwards, that way I don't have to book annual leave and I can claim the train fare on expenses haha

but I'm worried about how it will feel and how I will feel after. I have to go and sell 150K of stuff 2 hours afterwards lol

And a stone aint bad at all hun, big well done there! I'm done 9lbs, happy but bordering on midly disappointed. But then it's my fault, I'm the one sat here at 9.30pm with an ice cream lolly in me gob.

And a wedding?? woohoo congrats hun!! Awesome news

x

Would it be really bad if I considered incorperating a sprinkling of Reductil into my food? ?

My hubby said no bloody way am I to start doing that, so I wondered what you folks thought? I have a box of 30 left over still.

Julie, I just checked, it's an hour and 10 mins - Ostende to Vilvoorde. Dead quick, hubby hasnt anything to moan at there becuase it isnt a long journey :) x

edit/dont fo0rget to let your car insurance people know you are going out of the UK, they will just post you the EU insurance docs, there shouldnt be a charge or anything.

Also by law you must have certain things in your car; ie a fire extinguisher etc - cars do regularly get checked so be aware hun.

Jasmine - On an industrial estate yes, but bugger all to do - WRONG!! You were right on top of the town centre. Come out of the hotel, turn left and go under the railway bridge and you were there. 5 minutes max. There were loads of lovely shops, bars, restaurants - loads of stuff to see and do. I came back with Swarovski earrings lol. Vilvoorde is actually rather nice if you go out of the hotel to look around.

Well I'm 16 days post op and it's pants right now. I can eat pretty much anything I want including brown rice, brown bread- fresh and toasted. Pasta is fine also.

I've lost 9 lbs, which was in the first week and nothing since.

On the up side I have no probs with reflux or with sleeping on my port side. Sneezing hurts and I still feel the pain when my stomach muscles tighten (ie having a poo) - come on, we all do it haha!

My hubby bought a new blender and spent a day in the kitchen making me yummy things to eat/swallow and I havent needed them, I also bought baby food just in case I needed that. But I can tolerate a proper dinner - about 250g worth.

Oh I'm less freezing cold than I was a week ago but still a tad Baltic on occasions.

I burp like it's going out of fashion though and I feel hunger than never before. I feel physically in pain when I'm hungry, which seems to be every 2-4 hours. I must eat asap or I just can't cope - and my tummy growls like a bitch!

So a bit mixed right now, I can't wait for a 1st fill in 3 weeks. I could eat a giant steak at the moment.

hi weightogo,

god am not sure how i feel reading your post, very honest but knid of unexpected. do you feel you would be ready for your fill now?instead of having to wait another three weeks. you seem to have healed well so would your body be ready?when i went for a consult with another surgeon he does the first fill after ten days with all his clients. i do think we wait too long for the fills and that can be a bummer. what are other bandsters opinons on this?

geri:thumbup:

ps keep the faith you are doing really well

Blimey what did I do wrong? Did I upset you or something?

I think I would probably get a fill now if I was allowed one, but I doubt they would. I think I have healed well, and a lot quicker than I thought I would. I think quitting smoking helped a lot too.

What a bummer with the flights all being cancelled for you girlys going to Belgium.

I hope you all get there without too much stress.

Shoes you are a star, such a lot of weight!!!!

I've lost 6.6lbs since 8th April, I'm pretty pleased about that.

Hi Freckles, thats a great loss you've done really well is your restriction still very tight,i had a fill last week with Wendy she measured what i had in after the de fill i only had 5mils she put in half a mil so up to 5.5 now have some restriction think i need another half a mil to bring me up to 6 i had 6.5mil and it was to tight so i think 6 is just right for me going on hols in May so going to wait till i come back dont want to experience being to tight again, how much Freckles have you in now:scared2::)

Hi Julie your probably on your way by now the very best of luck safe journey and to anyone else traveling i feel so sorry for you all that messing with travel arrangements the best of luck :smile2:

Hi Shoes, you sound just like me. When I had the de-fill I had 6.5 mls in and it was a nightmare, but the weight did come off pretty fast.

Freddy started with a couple of mls and got me back up to 6.25 in 2 visits.

I went on 8th and Chris put in another .25 now I am back to where I started when it was very tight.

It varies from day to day, like last night I was doing that horrible cough that wakes you up and you have to get rid of it.

Was up with the birds at 5:30 am being sick, then slept till 11.

I can put up with it cos I know its only for a couple of months. Not too sensible on my part but i just want it over with if you understand.

It doesnt feel as tight as it did last time I had 6.5mls in...strange isnt it.

Good luck to all the girlies going soon, you wont ever look back.

I often see big people around and feel like suggesting a band to them, but of course you cant do that, I would have hated it if some stranger had done that to me.

Would have found it pretty insulting but I just feel so sad for them.

As you know I got banded just over 2 weeks ago, but I've also had PCOS for about 10 years, so fertility has been zilch.

I know that I am a couple or so weeks late with my period so decided to do a test today.

I did 2, and they are both positive. God knows how this could have happened (apart from the obvious lol) because I can't get pregnant.

I must have already been pregnant when I had my band, this has worried me somewhat after having a GA and x rays etc

I'm in a long term loving relationship but I know he doesnt want children of his own, he gets on great with my 12 yr old and his 3 neices/nephews he adores and vice versa.

He's not happy, he's quite upset at the moment. wtf do I do?

Yes I realise that Shoes, if it becomes a regular thing, (the vomiting) then I will probably get some taken out. atm its only been last night, and its my own fault for taking my meds too late.

I'm sposed to take them just before I go to sleep, think I'm gonna have to change that to mornings now.

Thank you for caring anyway xxx.

Its very tight today, I had 3 crackerbreads for Breakfast, after my coffee. Was a struggle.

Then just now I tried a very small bowl of homemade liquidised pea and ham Soup and I only managed 1 desertspoonful.

I dont feel hungry just tried it cos it was lunchtime ...its hard habit to get out of.

Oh Weightogo, you poor thing, what an awful situation for you.

I dont even know what to say to you except, do you want this little baby?

if you do, you're gonna have to change your partners mind, sorry I cant be more positive, I feel so sorry for you.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
