Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

Hi mmm

Thanks for the reply. Does Dr Chris get back to you after you send off your medical questionairre? I'm having my consultation in Belgium the night before my op. I was wondering how soon I could book transport and hotel. I don't want to leave it till the last minute as I have to go away the fortnight before my op so time is precious, its only 5 weeks away! I don't want to book it too soon as he might say no. Does he ever say no I wonder?

I had my consultation in belguim just like you will, you should reecieve a email from dr chris giving you the go ahead if the medical questionaire is ok he will also confirm the date you requested/or agreed with him if alls o.k....

Thanks,

How are you? 10 days since surgery. Do you feel well encough to go back to work quickly? I am planning to go back on day 7, otherwise I shall have to take some sick time off and I don't want to have to do that. I'm so excited that I can't wait now. I want to lose about 5-6 stone altogether, it will be great to stop yo-yoing up and down with the different diets I have tried over the years.

well congratulations on your decision!..i dont think i would have took the plunge of going abroad if i had not found this site with all the happy banders on it!. money!? it was hard for me to get too, and i had saved a bit, some on a card, some is an overdraft and some a bank loan..ill be paying back for 4 years..but i think what i have saved on my shopping bills/take aways are covering that! (true!). dont worry about going to belgium, Chris, the staff and the hospital are all A1..immaculatly clean, there are no cons with money or anything..i was worried about everything! dunno why now, everyone else says the same too! good luck and let us know when you get a date, gillian x

If it was not for all the lovely, helpful people, here on this site, I would proberly still be wondering wether to book with Dr Chris in Belgium. I came across this site about 3 mths ago after speeking t a consutiont via the hossi and not sure wat she was say. I then came across this site and the peeps, who help and advised me wer to go what to do and I am so gratefull for all their advise and help. I am booked to have my op on friday 8th may 09 and am all excited. I just hope that all the info on here helps you to make your decition. Mandy xxx

Hi penny, I went with the standard package they offer, which includes Hotel..taxi to & from the hospital/airports etc the costs for that including the operation was 4040 euro's the only thing I had to book was the flights....

Some people choose to book the hotels/taxi etc themselves but I found with the package it took all the hassle out of it, and in my experiance everything went smoothly from the moment I arrived... so I could relax & just concentrate on the Op. I stayed for 3 nights in total and flew back home with no complications...

Im not sure of any support groups in your area has im a londoner........But rest assured you'll get loads of support on here...:tt1::smile2:

All the best

Cw.

Can't Weight, thanks for all the info. Was that package through the Dr himself, or through a company? I think it sounds like a good deal and would rather not have the hassle myself if im honest :smile2:

How you finding things since you got back? Any regrets so far?

Cheers.

Penny

Hi Money penny Gary is from Scotland and can let you know about after care in your area and he might know about support groups aswell. No doubt he'll be online soon.

If you book with Dr Chris direct, he will get Frederick to contact you so that if you choose the package all taxis, hotels, are sorted inclusive, you just have to arrange flights and pay for those, you also need to let him know your flight details after you have sent off the deposit, or as soon as you know. The taxi will be waiting at the airport with a copy of the consultancy logo, Its best to fly into brusells international because its quite close to the hotel and hospital, and therefore easier to get back when you post op.

As regards to post op working, most work could be resumed within 7 days unless very physical, and you have no other health issues. Some have gone back earlier but its best to take the week off at least. If in doubt Dr Chris, or Fredrick can give you medical opinion, I've only offered what most of us on hear have done.

Try to find the time and read from the beginning there are loads of hints tips and advise, on earlier posts on this thread, which I found very usefull to jot down. of course you can still ask away as usual and one of us should be able to help

Hi Freckles - hope your daughter & baby are doing ok now and that you are feeling a bit better yourself. Your family certainly don't do things by halves do they? Hope you haven't started smoking again as you were doing so well? When you going for your second fill? I had my 4th one last Tuesday and don't think I am really feeling anything yet, however gillian was still feeling it from the 3rd one and didn't have anything this time. I have got 5.75mls in now so I'm hoping it won't take much more.

Welcome to all the new forum users, think just about every question possible has been asked on here before and so you will just need to read back to find all the info.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, bigsister x

Thanx CW and Big sis, I am just worried in case my tubing has been pierced....I will know when I see MVDB hopefully.... on 9th May.

I know Big sis, what a family duh!!.

They've told my daughter that she cant go back to work....she sits on her bum in an office and only part time too. She has to go back in hospital when she's 26 weeks and they will give baby steroids to develop her internal organs.

They wont let her pregnancy go beyond 34 weeks, if she doesnt deliver before.

She has waited so long for a little girl, I just pray everything will work out well.

Rachel is coming home tomorrow all being well. And my other daughter who's in Australia is in bits now worrying about her big sis.

Hi Gary when is your next fill due, its fab you've had 3 already, I've had one for 2.5ml but it did'nt make any difference whatsoever. Its got to be bad when I can put on 4lb in one week,, I go back to France week Monday and will no doubt put more weight on if nothing works for me this time.

I'm so pleased all the rest of you have been loosing weight, but why can't it be me too ;)

Hello All Belgium Bandsters, lol, I am looking for some info from you all, I booked my consultation for end of May with Chris, in Edinburgh, I am looking to get the band done early July, I can't wait!

I want to know where people have stayed, what airport I fly to, and how much people are paying for op just now in GBP£.

Also, taxi costs, is flying after the band ok, how long should I stay for, and anything else anyone wished they'd known before they went.

One last thing, is there any support groups in central scotland anyone knows about for people pre-and post banding?!

Thanks All in advance ;)

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
