Recommended Posts

:cursing: WOT!. nearly a whole page gone and i havent posted yet!..cant let that happen!.. Welcome Mattylew!!..thanks for all your advice..us prebandsters are absorbing every little bit of info like sponges!..and had some great advice the last few days!...I changed my money at M&S like bigsister, and only the day after it had dropped from 99 to 98...it seems like this is happening every day...and aparantly its going down til march, so id get some changed if your going soon!. anyone who has already been banded, can you tell me if you have to remove your rings? cos if so i had better get to the firestation for em cutting off! cos i have put more weight on and dunno if they will come off!. hopefully i will get them made smaller for next year!..I reckon Dr Chris is off for couple of weeks as i wanted to be banded this week but no surgery, and was originally booked in for next week, but it was cancelled til week after...unless anyone else is getting done?..he prob deserves a break, he sounds like a busy man!..hope hes all refreshed and ready for us then on 16th!:) Gillian x

Hi Gillian, yes you do have to remove your jewellery, but I suppose if your rings are really tight, they might let you get away with putting a plaster over them! Kath.:tongue2:

Hello everyone and a happy new year!!

Sorry I've not been on here for a couple of days, but as I spent Christmas alone in Belgium, I've been relaxing and spending a lot of time with my family and my boyfriend since I got back. It's been great!! Better stop it soon though, and start thinking about work on Monday. :tongue2:

My dear old Grandad reminded me earlier that it was a week today that I arrived home from Belgium and it really has flown by. Other than wearing dressings, I can honestly say that I don't feel as if I underwent surgery just over a week ago. I'm wondering whether having TL there to keep me company might have helped a bit. Even if she did say that I can't half sleep!

For those of you that might be interested, I have been documenting my gastric band journey on Youtube. There's one video of my bedroom in the Campanile Hotel and one in the hospital, the day after my surgery. I even get my dressings out!! :)

I'm hoping to actually do a video about my hospital experience in the next few days as well if you fancy checking back at some point. Just search for Miss Flump and you'll find everything I've uploaded.

Anyhow, if anyone has any questions, just ask and I'll do my best to help.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Hey Wishfull,

Thanks for checking out my video. Hope it gives you a bit of an insight into what the hospital's like etc.

As for me not looking too overweight in the video, I'm all belly and midriff !!! I regularly get mistaken for being pregnant which is never good!! I am tall (5'10'') and my BMI was nearly 38 when I went for my operation. I could do with losing about 7 stone in total. Only another 6 to go now though!!

Don't forget, any questions, just ask.

Hi Miss Flump. Thanks so much for making your videos, they are great! Everyone who has been recently banded has been so much help in the way they have documented everything and it is appreciated so much. After seeing your video, I don't feel quite as nervous now which is thanks to this and also reading Tropical Lagoons diary which both include all that practical info we really need but haven't thought to ask about. Keep us posted on your progress, we will be watching eagerly. Thanks again, bigsister x.

Hi gang

Just a quick update. I am well enough to return to work tomorrow and quite honestly I am looking forward to it. Being under house arrest over Christmas was not the most pleasant of times for me. I have only ventured out with someone driving me and escorting me round places like shops.

Absolutely no trouble sleeping on my side in bed now and wounds healing nicely. I was advised to cover them in valesine when I took my dressings off to prevent scarring, but they can be a bit itchy at times, so I'm trying not to scrach them.

Not lost any more weight but to be honest, not feeling any reatriction as to the amount of fluids. Even moved on to mushy food and keeping everything down. The only problem I have had is with a banana - that did cause quite a bit of discomfort, but I hadn't mashed it so it was my own fault for taking small bites and hoping a good chew would sort it.

Ten days to go eh? That's gonna fly by. At least you have a few people's accounts of the trip to prepare you for most eventualities. I am sure each person's is different though, so be prepared to document your journeys on here too for us all to share later.

Good luck with your pre-ops and those already banded good luck with your weight loss. I was chatting to another lady who told me she had put on half a stone after getting over surgery and before her first fill, so I do not feel like the odd one out now

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
