Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm new to the forum and am really grateful for all of your posts on this topic and Dr Chris., they have answered most of my worries and questions. I have been in touch with Frederik and have been given a date of 27 Jan '09 for my surgery. Now the moment of truth and sending the deposit and making it all real-- I am so nervous and feel I have a million doubts/thoughts going through my mind (sorry for being dramatic). ie will it work for me as nothing else has!! At first my husband didn't want me to do it, but now he is being supportive, however everyone else I know is being very negative and it is affecting me. The question, should I be selfish and go ahead or should I listen to everyone else about the dangers etc. Thank you all for your support

TC congrates on making that first move. As you have read through the past posts you will see how nearly all of us were very nervous with many of us having doubts including me lol. It is only natural that you feel like this, its a decision, that is not made lighty.

You're thought about 'will it work for me', well if you dont try you will never know and will always be asking yourself 'if only'. How is this selfish? If you have the support of your hubby then that is all you need. The only person who can make the choice is you, other peoples opinions are not really relevant, (except your GP).

I have only told 3 people (and of course all you lot on this forum lol) about my op and they have and are supporting me all the way, i was not interested in other peoples negitive responses because I dont think they really understood how I felt being over weight and how very unhappy I was.

As for the dangers, well, there are more positives than negitives to losing weight, the co-mobilities associated with weight problems are the real dangers. At the end of the day TC the choice is yours, this forum is fantastic for advise and support and we will all be behind you 100% if you go ahead with it:thumbup:

Thank you for your supportive reply Chrissy. I think my hormones must be raging (PMT/peri-menopausal and all that crap) as I was quite emptional when reading your response. It's lovely to have someome to talk to who knows what it really feels like to want the op so much. I haven't told that many people, mainly close friends and my parents and they all disagree with me, but then again none of them have been overweight, especially my mother who has been slim all her life. I have decided to go for it and just tell the people that need to know when I have had the op. I have researched this for months and feel (especially after being on this forum) that it is the right way ahead for me. Thank you again for your support:thumbup:

hiya TC27

its never going to be an easy decision and there will always be negatives, I couldnt wait to have my surgery and researched it well, there are negatives with all cosmetic procedures, you need to do it for yourself and not for others. If you feel you are doing the right thing go for it!! I openly told everyone including work collegues and a few people did think it was quite drastic action but now they are seeing the results thats all im having is support, compliments and encouragement!! Good luck with whatever you decide!! xx

Awww TC Im feeling for you, I also went through a very emotional time as well. Im glad you have decided to go for it, and dont be disappointed with your friends and Mum's response, its not only because the dont understand, (slim people just dont get it:cursing:) , its also because they all care about you. It will all become very clear to them once you have had it done and are down to a size 8 lol, and anyway once its done there is no going back lol :rolleyes2:

Thank you again Chrissy and also to you Sparky! You are both right and it is something I want to do for myself, selfish or not. I know they are all just concerned but in the end it's my life and my body. I'm 46 and still afraid of my Mam lol!! (she is lovely really) I wont tell her until I get back though and like you said, it will be too late by then.

Good luck to you both and maybe we will all be a size 8 one day:smile2:

Hi Guys, I was just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to book direct with Dr. Bruyne. I've been in contact with a woman named Bridget at Professional Beauty, but unfortunately she doesn't seem too keen to be helpful with giving out any information and hasn't replied to my last email. It is such a big amount of money I want to be absolutely certain that it's the right procedure to have so am thinking booking directly would offer more assurance. Any thoughts on this anyone????

Cheers Kay

Hi I booked with Bridget for jan 9th..Not got much communication either though!..still its booked and im going..bit nervous though! Im going to text or email her to make sure eveything is still set up...cos I was just given the date and that was about it! hope you have sorted something out? gillian x

Hi Gillian - we do sound very similar don't we:smile2:

I was very unsure if I was doing the right thing for numerous reasons, including as you said spending so much on myself when there are so many things the family could do with the money. I do think we are doing the right thing though for health reasons alone (I have 5 stones to lose and have been told by my GP I need tablets for high blood pressure - hopefully I can lose the weight and not need the medication). I am over the moon I stumbled across this forum as it is great for for first hand advice and support and yes they have all done brilliantly (that cold be us soon:thumbup:) You will have gone through it before me, so I'm looking forward to hearing of your journey too and hopefully we can support each other through it all. x

Hi TC..Im so pleased to have found somone else who is due to be banded! this is a brilliant forum, but there doesnt seem to be anyone else pre-band out there at the mo?!. I need to lose 6 stone by looking at the height/weight/BMI charts..but I would be over the moon with 5..and I feel this would suit my stature more..Im only 5 feet tall and this would make me a 10 to 12 size. Have you got a date for your banding yet? Have you told your GP yet? Im going to see mine next week..Im really scared that shell try and talk me out of it or tell me Im stupid ir something! she has given me all the prescription weight loss drugs possible now so hopefully shell be ok.. Im going to ask her if she can refer me to a dietician maybe afterwards though..just for a bit of back up. Im excited though and apprehensive just like you maybe..have you booked with Dr Chris direct, or with Bridget at proffessional beauty, or someone else? Gillian x

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
