What does your plan say? I had some salad at 8 weeks post-op (but that's when it was allowed under my plan).

I didn't have any salad until about 8 weeks out -- I didn't eat it until after I had eaten all my Protein at dinner that night. I had room for about 3 bites. Even now, at 5 months post-op, I can eat about 1/2 cup of salad, at most. I do miss it. But check with your team. 5 1/2 weeks is pretty early out. I wasn't even on a full diet at that point.

My nutritionist said I could try salad at 7 weeks. I am now 9 weeks post op.

She told me to start slowly... just a small amount at a time to see how I handled it. So that's what I did a couple of weeks ago... started slow with just a few bites. I had no problem.

Now I've been eating salad everyday at lunch or dinner with my Protein. I eat about 4 oz of chicken usually, with a romaine lettuce and grape Tomato salad. No problems and I tried raw broccoli florets for the first time with some hummus for a snack several days ago. So far, so good with the raw veggies.

I have read that some people have to wait several months to be able to tolerate raw veggies. So when you start, just do a very small amount. I guess it could really upset your stomach if you can't tolerate it.

Initially (and this is my personal thought) salad isn't the best thing to eat early on only because your stomach is still recovering, will be tiny with the swelling and you need Protein before salad. I eat salad now after 17 months and really enjoy it but there are times that I can't eat much, maybe a couple of bites after I get the Protein in. Go by what your team says, as I am sure there will be lots of differing thoughts here.

Please be aware that tomatoes have small seeds in and can get 'caught' in a healing stomach.

When you do have it, enjoy! The crunch is lovely :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
