I did have to do the 6 month supervised diet, yes. And actually, it's been several months longer than that. I started the process about 10 months ago. I was living on the other side of the state, and after 4 months I got a new job and had to move. With the insurance switch, etc, I ended up having to skip a month, which meant I had to start all over!

It seems like I've been doing this forever, but at the same time it's gone quickly.
