Your BP is way too high. You need to be checked out ASAP...Not to mention, you're probably dehydrated.

@@PhillyAj, yes, you don't want to go to the hospital and the BP wrist cuff (I never knew there is a wrist cuff) may be wrong -- but you don't know if it is. Your having your own cuff makes me think that you have a specific health concern, while your questions make me think you have no professional-level medical knowledge beyond knowing that 197/107 is particularly high.

If I were you I'd call my surgeon's office and give the details to the answering service and tell them I'm then heading to the ER. I'd proceed then to the hospital. You're only a few days out of surgery with wild BP. Walk away from your computer and stop delaying.

Not to mention vaginal bleeding whether it is or is not related to the IUD. Call you gyn's office, too. You're not supposed to be bleeding from the vagina if it isn't your period. Get moving.

I have been messaging her and helping her. Her BP is back down to normal range last time I asked her to check it.

There are many ways to take a BP actually. :) Wrist, arm, leg, etc.. and with an IUD you usually have irregular bleeding as it is and she is probably used to that if she has had the iud for some time. I told her if her BP goes up again she needs to go to the hospital. She is most likely slightly dehydrated and could attempt to help herself by continuing to drink Water. I'm gonna keep messaging her and making sure she is okay.

@@PhillyAj

You might as well get used to bleeding. You will probably be spotting off and on for the next year. Get stock in proctor and gamble.

@@nursemichelle7, that's good. I know that BP can fluctuate by the minute, but that was quite a spike. As someone who's never had an IUD, I either didn't know or don't recall having heard that spotting is common. I didn't think that, given the rest of the OP's post, it should go unnoticed. Nevertheless, if I were she, I'd call my surgeon's and let the answering service do their thing. When I think I may have real cause for concern, I don't go to member-centered websites, but lots of people do.

My BP was up the first few days I was home and at one point was very close to your reading. I had missed a dose of pain medication and the pain made it go up. Doctor had me take an addition 1/2 dose of my BP meds and things have been okay since.

Hope you're feeling better.

Should you be sharing her medical information on a public website? Should you even be dispensing medical advice to a stranger on a message board?

@@Alex Brecher , this is concerning.

She shared her own medical information in the above posts. I am not googling answers for this lady. I went to school for 4 years to be a nurse. I think I have the right to tell this lady if she should worry or not. Thanks for your concern

Anyone can be anything on the internet. :) No offense intended but I do hope she's consulting with someone who knows her complete medical history and does not post it publicly. What she shares is one thing, what you reshare is questionable and most likely professionally unethical if you are a licensed health care provider.

Well I sure would hope that no one is pretending to be in the medical field and giving false advice to people. I never reshared anything that she had not previously shared. I privately messaged anything I thought was sensitive information. I am not offended just simply stating what happened between the poster and I in messages. I told her to continue to monitor her symptoms and go to the hospital for further advice. Didn't try to talk her out of anything just told her what she should be aware of :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
