PPS - I'm going to try and make the September meeting! And maybe the Hospital one next Thursday...

Awesome! It would be great to meet you. I should be able to make the September meeting on the 11th, but I have a scheduling conflict for next Thursday evening which means I'm probably not going to be able to make it to the "Staple Club" meeting. It's really frustrating, because I wanted to show up for the first meeting after surgery and share my experience there. Oh well, if I don't go until September, I'll make a more dramatic appearance. LOL.

Just for clarification - I believe you said the September meeting would be September 4th - the Day after Labor Day? i put that on my calendar as I'm not sure I can make next Thursday's meeting either.

Just got this message about the 2018 support group schedule from Fitzer's support group leader:

Sept 4th 6-7 pm which is the day after Labor Day, on Tuesday. ... October 1st 6-7pm November 5th 6-7pm December 3rd 6-7 pm.

Change to the change! The next support group meeting is on September 11th, *not* September 4th. Deby decided to keep it on the 11th because that date is on the schedule that Dr. Fitzer's office distributed to his patients.

Then I will be there for sure! My #6 Nutrition Appointment is just a few hours before.

What time and where is the meeting tonight? I have a follow-up appointment this afternoon and may just stay in the area.

Hi everybody. Bypass patient of fitzer. How much weight had you lost at 6-8 weeks. I’m starting to feel like my weight loss is very slow compared to everybody else.

I lost 40+ pounds in 8 weeks. It came off fairly quick. However x please keep in mind that everyone is different. Which surgery did you have?

I had bypass on July 25th, and I’ve lost 36 pounds. It’s been a while at this weight. I don’t understand how people are at 5 months and have lost 80 pounds!

You interested in coming to Dr. Fitzer's monthly support group? They are awesome and super supportive. The next one is September 10th at Reston Hopital. Pavillion II, classroom B @6pm.

I am seeing Dr Fitzer to have a failed lap band removed with a conversion to bypass. So far I like everyone there and their office staff are the sharpest of ANY doctor I have visited for 65 years! I posted this another place but I'll say it again--there are lots of competent surgeons out there but the "front of the practice" is probably the most important part of your weight loss journey. If you don't have those movers-and-shakers keeping it together for you, helping you jump through all your insurance hoops, answering all your (my!) dumb questions it just isn't happening. I had to bail out of a practice in Richmond which is closer to my home due to the office staff. I liked the surgeon but the office was terrible at communication, returning calls, finding insurance requirements and once I was given just flat out wrong information about Medicare that almost ended my journey before it even got started.

Dr Fitzer's office runs like a top! I can give a better referral after my surgery but so far I love them enough to travel 4.5 hours to see them.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
