EKG Anomalies

Hi folks. I have a surgery date of 12/28 and the one final hurdle is to get final clearance from my pcp.

She had me take an EKG and called me later because she saw an anomaly....like as if I have had a heart attack before. I'm only 15 and have had no heart attacks.

She is ordering further blood work before she will clear me. Anyone else have this? After going through this process for the better part of the year I'm now nervous that I won't be cleared. Everyone else has cleared me and I have insurance approval.

Should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry too much. I would ask your primary physician to refer you to see an actual cardiologist where they can do additional testing and to see if those prior results are just anomalies or is an indicator of cardiac disease. A cardiologist will have more expertise in interpreting these results rather than a pcp.

I had it happen to me. Apparently my EKG showed an abnormality and they made me go do a nuclear stress test. UGH!

The good news was it did not effect my surgery or timing at all. But it did make me feel safer going into surgery knowing my heart was ok.

Hang in there and best of luck to you!

Thanks. Dr called and blood work was ok. Still I will be going for an echocardiogram on Tuesday and she says if everything checks out she will clear me. Oh and by the way...the age up there is a typo. It should say 25 not 15. Anyway...keeping my fingers crossed and I'm so thankful to have found you all.
