Insight on hair loss?

Recommended Posts

So, my Hair loss started 2 months ago. It shows no sign of slowing down. My once long thick hair is now thin. No scalp showing and I'm the only one that has noticed, however id like to keep it this way. I have handfuls of hair loss with every shower. Not showering isn't an option so I'm hoping it just stops soon. Can anyone offer a timeline on their hair loss? I'm stressing!

I crazy nervous about this. My hair is so thin. Part genetics and part thyroid issues. When I make a pony tail it is hardly any thicker than a finger. If I lose even 1/4 of my hair I will need to wear a wig :-(

I have definitely lost more than a quarter! However, the good news for you is that it is different for everyone and some don't even lose any hair.

Have you tried Biotin?

My doc told me not to bother. That if I were gonna lose hair, there would be no stopping it no matter what I wasted my money on.

I had VSG on 8/8/16. My hair loss started recently, I would say in the last two weeks. Its all over my bathroom floor, have to sweep every day. In the shower when I rinse my hair I can feel it sliding down my backside. I notice it by my temples. Solution for this is to not pull my hair up. I have thin hair to start. I hope I don't loose too much. My husband says he will love me even if I go bald. I guess that's all that matters!!

Are you getting enough Protein? I was told that making sure to hit my protein goals would help a lot with preventing too much hair loss...

have you tried minoxodil? that is what I started after my band surgery and it helped for sure (within a few weeks you could see all the new hair popping up. I got it at costco, my dermatologist told me to get the 5%. you cannot use it if you have a chance at getting pregnant. I've started it preventatively now that I've had a bypass.

Not sure if this will help guys but I suffer from Alopecia from PCOS anyway and this is my regime for keeping ontop of my fuzzy hair

Once a month a beer and banana wrap, MASH up both, put on dry hair and then clingfilm once mushed on - leave for an hour then wash out.

Once a week use a medicated Shampoo such as Vosene.

All other times use a shampoo with natural coconut oil, argan oil or even strengthing properties.

Added Vitamin called Selenium, it keeps hair, skin & nails healthy.

My whole crown is very visible due to this and I'm fine with it but I know the sleeve will help me with it eventually due to reversing PCOS .

Hope this helps!

I have two girlfriends that's had bypass surgery. One of them her hair fell some in the beginning then grew back how it was thick. The other one her hair never really came back . I've been in the hair Buisness for over 24 years and never came across any topical that works. If you all know who Lisa Lampanelli is she had gastric sleeve surgery done her hair fell off and her hair grew back.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
