I was told at my first meeting with my surgeon that my estimated date would be end of January-mid February. (This would be perfect because I am going to be a bridesmaid in a wedding in June) Yesterday, I was told that once they submit my whole "packet" to insurance for approval, it could be 3 weeks before they hear if my surgery was approved or not. Then, my surgery would be scheduled for approximately 3 weeks after that. This puts my surgery date at mid-march. For those of you who already have a surgery date, is this about right or are they just giving me worst case scenario? post-298053-14811044469689_thumb.jpg

I was approved by insurance in three days!!! It all depends on ur insurance company and how long it takes. And usually the surgery is done atleast two weeks out from when they schedule it especially if you have a two week pre op diet!!! Lots of luck!!

I was approved in hours....yes hours and surgery was scheduled for 3 weeks later only because they wanted me on a 2 week liquid diet.

I hope your approval happens much faster and you get your surgery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
