7 months post op weight loss crawl

Recommended Posts

I'm 7.5 months post sleeve. I've lost 92lbs but in the last 2 months I have lost maybe 8lbs.

I lose 0 to 1.5 a week. I'm getting discouraged because I'm still 40lbs from goal and the loss has slowed down so much I think I may be done.

You are only as done as you want to be. You are still losing weight, which is good. If you want to keep losing weight, or lose weight faster, you'll likely need to commit to managing your caloric deficity pretty intensely, which means knowing exactly how many calories you are taking in and being willing to lower that -- or significantly up your exercise -- in order to keep losing as you grow smaller, or speed up the weight loss.

You have done fantastic work so far, it's really impressive! If you want to keep losing weight, you can. I know I always say that the last 20 lbs or so I had to do hand to hand combat with each pound to kill it. It was really hard work. Some people have the luxury of gliding easily to their goal weight, but I think for most of us it is a different story. If you want to lose the last 40 lbs, you absolutely can do it, I promise you, but it may be slow and super hard going.

Your doing amazing. I was sleeved 1/25/15 and have lost 82lbs. I felt like I was melting at one point but now I'm losing slowly which is OK. I just won a 2 month online personal trainer and I think it's just what I need to get toned up now and get the last 30 pounds off. Keep up the great work you will get to your goal..

I'm 5 months out and only lost 66. I think it's going to slow down almost to a halt

I was sleeved the same time as you and I am thrilled to have lost 67 pounds in 5 mths. Your expectations are too high if you think "only 66 pounds" isn't good enough. Talk to your doctor, reexamine what you are eating, amount of Protein and liquids, etc.

I'm greedy I guess and not ready to have the weight loss end. I was feeling great but when it has slowed/stopped and according to bmi I'm still obese it is frustrating. I'm happy how far I have come though.

You are not being greedy. You deserve to get to your goal weight and you will. You have already predicted the future and determined the outcome. There is a saying that if you think you can't, you are right and if you think you can, you are right.

I am 30 weeks post op and down 75 post op and about 15+ beforehand. All in I'm down 90 ish but the last 6+ weeks the loss has really slowed down. I do not exercise and I'm 69 years old. I don't eat a helluva a lot because I get indigestion from just about everything. I take Nexium 2x a day but I am going to try Prilosec to see if I get better results. I want to lose another 35 lbs but I may need to exercise to accomplish the last mile. Soft foods treat me better but still cause some discomfort. I would encourage myself and others to just keep on trying and follow the rules of the program. There is a price to pay for taking the Sleeve Route to weight loss, but it's definitely worth it in the long run.

Be thankful you are not back at your original weight. The sleeve is a tool to keep you losing weight or at least managing your weight.

Don't be discouraged!! Look at how far you have come!! That is an amazing accomplishment!!

I am also 7.5 months post sleeve and lost 105.4 pounds and have many more pounds to go and I have stalled also.

My support group leader suggests it's just a bump in the road and to continue doing what I am doing and the weight will come off once my body stabilizes again.

My surgeon suggests I up my exercise 30 more minutes a week to give it another kickstart.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
