@@weneebug Right now i only have 2cc... I had a complete unfill last month when my band decided to tighten up due to some stress. Then God the dr. is also a close personal friend. He fills me when i want at no charge... thank god.

Right now it's hard because you really don't have any restriction and so you will be hungry.... it's call Band Hell. Just stick to the program... it will all work out.

Take the pictures....

@ @@weneebug I'm just going to let you guys know... don't be expecting a lot from your first few fills.... Unless your dr. is agressive. Most put in 1cc.. Maybe 2 at the most at a time. You would think wow that's a lot... but it really is not.... It took till fill 5 i think at about 7.5cc i think for me to really start to fill it

but trust in the process.... and remember... exercise... and what you put into your band is what you get out of it.

That's a little discouraging...I was hoping to be able to tell some difference after the first fill. I guess I will have to be patient!!! Yes, it is band hell. I can't eat as much as I use to but still want more than the 2-4 ozs my doctor suggested.

You guys are about 3 weeks ahead of me. Tomorrow is my big day...lap band surgery first thing tomorrow morning! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I was able to lose 16 lbs pre-op. Started pre-op diet at 229, down to 213. My goal is to get to 140, however I'll take whatever the band gives me. Anyone else start with these stats? Where are you now? Are my goals realistic? How soon did you get to 60 lbs lost? Your help is greatly appreciated! Only positive comments please.

Excited for you!! I started at 217 pre op and lost 11lbs by day of surgery. Then since surgery I've lost 10 more. Haven't weighted since. I go back to get my first fill on the 28th. Good luck tomorrow

Hey guys! I'm home, all went very well. Woke up with pain level at 2-3. I'm at about a 2, right now. Gas didn't travel to my shoulders TG. However feeling it in my lower back but pain is tolerable with walking, heat pad and pain meds.

I have a funny story to tell. So, I'm laying on bed in pre-op, thinking about being nude under my gown. I started to contemplate hum, what happens if I pee during surgery? Will I get a catheter? I don't think so, no one said anything about a catheter. I mentioned this to my sister who was my driver. So I called nurse over. Asked her, are you putting in a catheter...she (such a fun girl, she made my experience so pleasant) said, oh no, you won't be in OR long enough for a catheter. Hum, I said. So, what happens if I pee on myself. She said well girl, we just wipe it up, these beds are made for that...I said so will you change my socks? She said yes you'll get hospital issued socks. Me, oh ok. I said ok, I'm good, so she walks off...I told my sister, if I come out of OR and notice I'm not wearing my socks, I'll be so embarrassed. (I've never given birth, btw so never gone through that loosing of ...we'll you know). My sister and I had a good laugh about that, she's had a baby so she understands my concern of embarrassment. So, I wake up post-op. Feet are covered. Nurse says let's get dressed. Ok, said to myself, yeah I gotta see the outcome for myself. I pull out my feet from under covers, awh...my socks!!! Such a sigh of relief! So I get to Recovery, sister comes in sits down...I said look, "my socks!" She said I know that was the first thing she looked at. We laughed so hard.

I truly had a pleasant experience today. Had I known what it would be like for me to go through this experience, (with these same nurses and docs) I would have done it years ago.

That's funny cz.99. That never crossed my mind about having to pee during surgery. I've had 2 kids so I guess it just doesn't even phase me...lol Glad your surgery went well. That first week on liquids I remember thinking "What have I done?" but that feeling has went away now and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
