Normal hospital stay?

Recommended Posts

I think I must be the exception to the rule here.

I was in for 3 nights after spending 2 days on two drips for Fluid and morphine.

It was not a comfortable time as I had complications :)

My operation was on October 10th and I stayed one night. I was discharged the following day around 11 am.

I stayed overnight. Had my surgery in the morning and was up and walking the same day. Next day they cut me loose around noon. I didn't want to be in the hospital a minute more than I had to.

I stayed until the next day. I'm glad that I did. I actually went to another surgeon after visiting one who discharged same day. I have a family at home and knew that would be too much for me.

My sleeve was 8/3/16 and I was told I'd be in 2 nights. However, I was in 3 nights because my bladder didn't wake up and I ended up being catheterized. Once I was able to pee, things happened quickly and I was discharged.

A woman in my support group did the sleeve as out-patient because she didn't have insurance. She did fine but had no complications.

My surgeon said he planned for me to go home same day as surgery. Is this normal??

Scheduled sleeve: 12/6/16

I was sleeved on 10/6/16 and I was self pay and at the last minute the surgical center cancelled my one overnight stay and said they had a staffing issue and that I would be going home the same day. And my surgeon was supposedly fine with it. I don't think it's. a good idea based on my experience because I did become dehydrated and could have used some more IV fluids prior to being sent home. My vote is at least one overnight.

I was sleeved on 10/26 at 12:00pm and went home the following day at 4pm. My surgeon requires one night in hospital, but does an X-ray to check for leaks prior to releasing.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
