1.5 weeks post op, feeling down

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve Oct 21. I am not sure what I expected but recovery has been harder than I thought it would be. I am losing great, down 26lbs since liquid diet (2 weeks prior).

Just so tired right now! Really sick of Protein Shakes at the moment as well. Missing actual food that doesn't taste like chocolate/ vanilla/ etc. Guess I am just feeling whiney tonight.

When does energy start to come back?

Chin up, it does get better! I didn't start getting my energy back until 3-4 weeks post op. Just remember that this part is temporary, and vital to your healing process.

The first month is really hard specially if you had more than one surgery at once I had a hiatal hernia repair and it was more complicated swallowing. I'm one month today and someday sate good and some are bad, it takes a fully two months I think to get better, eat healthy, the cravings to go away. Give it time it will get better.

I am sure hormones are playing a part. I did have a hernia repair too but it hasn't caused any issues.

I am super thankful I haven't had any complications. I am back at work and finding it uncomfortable to sit in a chair for long periods. Feels like squishing my stomach. I am guessing from all the swelling. I am on liquids till the 11th so counting down!

chicken broth really helped me during that phase. I needed something savory desperately bad. Good luck. It'll get better.

I am right there with you! Sleeved a week ago. Recovery has been challenging for sure. My tummy rumbles all day - it's painful at times. Everyone says we will get through this - it's just hard to see that right now for sure.

I had my sleeve Oct 25, and I also am down 26lbs since pre op liquid diet. I have been extremely hungry the last cpl days, craving anything but a Protein shake. Hope this passes soon.

It is not fun. This part of it really stinks. But hang in there! It will be worth it! This will pass.

I tried thinning some cream of chicken Soup and added in unflavored Protein powder. It was like a thanksgiving feast after drinking shakes for days. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder actually makes a chicken Soup flavored powder as well.

Each day will get better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
