I've lost 20 lbs since being banded on 11/9/07 - a total of 30 lbs since I started the whole process on 8/22/07. I'm trying REALLY hard to eat as though I'm at full restriction. I'm focusing on small portions, small bites, chewing reeeeeeeeeeally slowly and not drinking fluids with my meals. I don't have my first fill until 12/28/07, so I still have some time to wait. I think hitting the 280's on my weight is what was the big motivator to stay on track. Then, this morning, I weighed and for the first time in, oh FIFTEEN YEARS, I'm below 280. That's the best Christmas present I could have ever gotten!

Hi All, I haven't posted in a while but I have been checking in on what everyone else is saying. I was banded on 11/7 I am still not too hungery. My husband thinks I will turn into a nutty bean...when I do fill hungery at non meal times, I eat about 6 nuts and I am full again for a long while. I love my refried Beans with salsa and a scoop of cottage cheese. I don't have my fill until January 3rd but I am not too worried. I am having trouble movating myself to exercise, does anyone have any good ideas on how to keep movated?

Keep up the great work all:clap2:

Wow still not hungry??? I had my surgery November 7th also and I get hungry 3-4 times a day. I eat smaller but normal protions. I was on mushy foods from week 1-2 and week 3 on Solids. I have a question I think I over did it last night. We had a potluck at work and I only had little bites of different things here and there and I was full then later on I made a BAD choice and had some cheesecake!!! I was so mad at myself for that but then all the sudden out of nowhere I got really sick, now I have had ice cream here and there a couple of nights a week and no issues but something happened after the cheesecake, I started feeling Cramps, sweaty, nauseous and I thought I was going to die for about 10 minutes. I had to do EVERYTHING in my power not to throw-up. Luckily I didn't but then this morning I still felt like crap I couldn't even have the broth from my Soup without feeling nauseous. So I had a half of a Rice cake and went to sleep for 2 hours then finished the other half. By late afternoon I finally started feeling a little better. Any ideas on whether this is "Normal"?

That is very strange..it sounds like "dumping" witch my doctor said would not happen with the band, only with the bypass. My girlfriend had the bypass and she dumps on fatty foods..the reaction is exactly what you described happened to you. Bypass patients can also dump on sugars.

Best to leave the cheese cake alone! :phanvan

Hi everyone, well I had my first fill about 3 weeks ago..I haven't really lost much more weight about 3 more pounds. I get filled again coming this Thursday and I am hoping I will feel more restricted. My Doctor said that it is normal to not really feel like you are eating less durring the first 3 fills. So I am hoping to feel more with this next one. I don't have as much weight to loose as many of you and that's probably why I am getting discouraged when I see a lot of you loosing 10-15 pounds in a week and I am only loosing 1-5 a week. I started this journey at 223 pounds and I am now around 192-198. It all depends on how much I ate the day before.

Has anyone else been filled yet..and how are you doing?

Take care!!

I was banded on Nov 1 and had my first fill Dec 3. My PA that does the fills said the first fill only lasts a couple of days. I can eat anything I want (thats a problem) but I can't eat much (a good thing). I will get my second fill on Jan 4 and find out just how much I have lost (or not) I don't believe it has been much, maybe a few pounds. I have made some bad choices in food and drink but only beause of the holidays. Things will get better after the first, or should I say the 4th.

Congratulations to your success so far. Kudos to you! You should feel proud of yourself. I was also banded on Nov 5, 2007 and first fill on 12/11/07. You and I are in the same boat. I started out at 224 and am now about 195-197. I don't get my second fill until March. However my doctor said to call him sooner if I'm getting hungry which I may do. The holidays were a little rough, but I made it. I think I had maybe 3 Cookies the entire time. This is the first time ever that I didn't gain 7-10 lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the band must be working.

Okay..I wanna know who here is satisfied with 1/2 a cup of food 3 times a day?? My doctor said I should be full after 1/2 a cup but I'm eating more like a cup of food and a couple small Snacks a day. Maybe that's why I am not loosing as much..I just hope my next fill will help me to not eat as much.

Also, we need to start a forum for pictures...or is there already one for us November Bandsters?? I think that it might help us motivate eachother..and would be fun to show off...Let me know what yall think!!

Take Care!!

I always had around 5 small meals a day when I was restricted and lost heaps of weight. It has slowed down now that I have very little restriction. I was told by my doc that I would be having 3 cups of food a day but I prefer to have less and eat more often. The way I see it is do what works for you as long as you continue to lose the weight.

:)I am totally satisfied with my 3 ounces of food 3 times a day. Protein shake in between Breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner. No snacking and plenty of Water...

I have trouble getting in my 64 ounces of Water but some days I do better on that than others. I think everyone is right, somedays I feel more full than others.

I always MEASURE my portions.....I do not eyeball.....I was told not to do that. I know people in my support group 4 years out who still measure their portions.......and they are below GOAL!!

I don't know why it is this way for some and not for others, I truly do not. I think that would be an answer for the DR's. But I do know that I am thrilled I am one of the lucky ones.....who is not constantly hungry!

This is the year of the BAND!!!

Hey Everyone!! I haven't posted in a while. Just popping in to give an update and to read about how everyone's doing.

I'm down a total of 32 lb since this whole process began. I feel GREAT! My pant size is down from a 26/28 to a 22/24 which is stunning! I'm down from a 3X to a 1X on my shirt size. I haven't even had a fill yet! Incredible!

I was supposed to have my first fill on 12/28/07, but I was REALLY sick with this nasty, "hangs on forever!!!" cold that's been going around. Now I'm rescheduled for next week on the 9th of Jan. I'm actually glad I had to wait, because my inicision area just didn't feel *completely* healed. Now it looks and feels "ready for the needle invasion" by my surgeon. Does it hurt???? <eek!!>

The holidays were great! I did gain 1 lb, but considering what I used to pack on, I'd say that's definitely progress. Hehehe...

Sending you all lots of well wishes, positive energy, thoughts of success and great health!!!! This New Year is going to be amazing!!! :-) :-) :-)

I thought that the fill would be done through the port incision but my doctor actually went in about an inch below the incision.

Congratulations, Carsons Mommy, on doing so well!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
