When I was craving hot chocolate last winter (I was about 6 months out then), I would heat up 8 oz of the chocolate Fairlife on the stove. Yes, it's still got 140 calories and 12g of sugar, but it has 13g of Protein and it was a great treat every now and then. And it never caused me any digestive issues.

I have a hot cocoa almost every morning. 1 packet Nestle fat free hot chocolate + 4 oz unsweetened vanilla cashew milk + 2 oz Water + dollop of fat free reddi whip. All in all under 55 calories of deliciousness.

I also add in other flavorings -- like this morning I added some hazelnut sweet drops & instant coffee for a hazelnut mocha hot cocoa.

Nothing I've eaten since being sleeved has made me "crap myself." I think that's more often for bypass or DS people.

I think the OP is probably referring to old fashion hot chocolate. If that is the case, dumping syndrome is possible. A huge spike in blood sugar and fat in the blood stream could cause the drooling, nausea, sweating, foaming, and yes even crapping yourself.

Dumping makes you feel awful. I mean seriously awful. Any of the alternative listed above is better this early in the game.

6 months out. So what happens if we drink hot chocolate? Do we crap ourselves? Seriously.

This is going to be a 100% personal "thing". Not everyone dumps on the same stuff, and not everyone dumps the same way. Dumping symptoms vary drastically from person to person and even food to food. It's really a "try and see" situation. Some increased sugars and fats don't phase me at all, I can eat Hersey Kisses by the handful and not have any problems, which kinda sucks because now I have to chose to avoid them rather than having them cause issues and not be worth eating.

Best thing to do is stay in touch with your nutritionist and when you are cleared to start trying foods, do so at home with plenty of time to deal with any of the dumping side effects. I eat a bowl of Tomato Soup and felt like I had all my energy zapped, had to go lay down and ended up sleeping for like 3-4 hours.

It's a tough learning journey trying to figure out the new you.
Good Luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
