Just received my bill.

Holy crap, between surgeon and hospital it was over $100,000. Thankfully my portion is only $1,000.

The insane part, is how little of that $99,000+ that your insurance company will even end up paying to the hospital.

I can look online and see how much my insurance pays, versus what the bill is, and the difference is vast.

They also tell the medical provider that they are not allowed to go after me for the difference.

As someone pointed out today on Facebook, imagine that full amount as how many average annual salaries that amount would be, and the fact that they weren't waiting on you hand and foot during your time there.

Am in the U.K. I self financed and it cost me £9,000. Agreed a lot of money - I'll be paying it for five years, but makes one thankful our system remains as it is. Except of course our government is killing the NHS so we'll be where you are before too long. Makes me shudder!

I was with Spire Wellesley. No issues so far. Be interested to know what dietary advice you've been given. My doc, mr Mannur, has allowed me things like nuts and cheese and crackers from week three but portions seem much smaller than people from the USA mention. I'm on soft food now and haven't been given guidance as to amounts. I've neither been full nor hungry yet though!!

Wtf..... really

I'm not insured and paid upfront which was all up around $26,000.

Where did the 100 grand come into it?.. I have never ever heard of that before

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
