Protein making me sick

Recommended Posts

I'm 9 days post op today. 20 pounds down in all (which is including my pre op diet). But I'm having I really hard time keeping my Protein down. I'm getting my 64 oz of fluids in without a problem but the protein makes me sick. I MAY get in 30 grams a day. I've tried Matrix, premiere protein and a few others. Is any one else having this problem? I am worried to death over not getting enough in.

Thanks!!

How much Protein is your plan asking you to have at Day 9 post-op? On mine, it is 30 grams. It goes to 40-50 grams beginning at Day 15. (That being said, plans are wildly different. One person posted theirs on another thread and mine is WAY more conservative than what he posted.)

The point of what I am writing is that your 30 gram intake doesn't seem so bad for where you are right now.

Good luck!

@@Danielle893 Have you tried any of the powders with milk? I'm drinking Bariatric fusion powder with skim milk (pre-op) and it's very good. Also - try some of the Protein drinks like Isopure, Syntrax Nectars, Atkins Lift, etc. You can also add unflavored Protein Powder to liquids. Just keep trying something different until you can tolerate it. Good luck.

Have you tried different sources of Protein? For example, perhaps plant based Protein will be more agreeable with your system right now.

Please DON'T worry to death about the protein requirement... I'm 5 mos post op... your sleeve is still healing at day 21-30... I know all the NUT can scare you that you will die if you don't get 60-80 grams daily... , I'm here to testify you won't drop dead cause your 20-30grams short...you have to work up to it daily.... it's good your getting in your fluids no problem, dehydration is the biggest concern... don't stress each day you will get more and more protein... I started using fuzzy naval protein w crystal lite, or cherry cherry protein w Hawaiian punch sugar free... that 46 Proteins right there... good luck on your journey

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
