Hell yes! I switched to vaping a year ago. I don't want to quit, this is my compromise. I love it.

I started at 12mg, I am now at 3mg. I will drop to 0mg 1 week before surgery. The first week of vaping was the hardest for me, and the only issue I have had is a dry mouth, so I just drink more Water.< /p>

Was a pack a day smoker 6 years ago. I switched to vaping after some ER visits, the beginning of possible COPD, had terrible asthma. Once I started vaping, I never went to the ER ever again. In fact, because of the PG in my mixture (usually make my own), it's antibacterial. I think in 6 years I've had the flu a few times. Never got bronchitis again.

I just had a zillion tests last few months to prep for my sleeve surgery: sleep study, Barium swallow, Endoscopy, EKG & Stress test, Echo cardiogram, Respiratory evaluation, Pulmonary function, Nuclear stress test and Nuclear Heart scan, Pre-Op blood and Urine work, Chest X-ray. Everything was perfect. :D The one that surprised me was my chest x-ray. They said my lungs were perfect and no sign of any damage from the past as well as my respiratory and pulmonary function tests were perfect. I was really happy but I kind of figured just because the way I feel vs the way I used to feel when I smoked.

There is a great documentary concerning saving a billion lives (cigs to vape) that is just being released now. They have a FB page with the information #ABillionLives.

Ah yeah, I forgot about that. The first week, you'll be coughing, it's just your lungs expelling all the gunk that built up through the years of smoking. It gets better.

So after the surgery all I can do is 0mg nicotine right?

Probably would be safer but like caffeine, some doctors say it's ok and others say no until your stomach is healed.

You have come so far- I would not even start vaping. If you have made it this long, you can do it!! Just think of the cost savings (regular or vaporizers.) and I definitely would not do any nicotine.

Please don't take offense- I'm a former smoker and I would want someone to say this to me. Every time I've quit and then tried to introduce anything back in like an e-cig I would just fall completely off the wagon.

I wish you the best in whatever you choose.

As much as I love vaping, and how much better I feel since the switch years ago... If one can just quit cold turkey and never go back, that is just awesome. The money spent is real too. Lol

coffee, a caramel green apple vape and knitting gives me the "Je ne sais quoi" daily pleasure. Thank goodness I never cared for alcohol, it makes me nauseous. For that I'm thankful.

Thank you for not being offended. Honestly, we have to do what works for each of us individually, I just wouldn't want anyone to go back to anything when the nicotine withdrawal is already passed. Mental craving is a whole other story... Sort of like head hunger!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
