September Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 9/19, getting in my 100 grams of Protein and 64+ounces of Water, about 800-1000 calories daily. I'm really working to up my activity and have hit 10,000 steps 4x this week, hope to squeeze in one more day of heavy walking.

I feel great. sleeping is improving very much from beforehand; less snoring, no waking, etc. But I'm not getting any energy surge I have heard about.

Down about 2 pants sizes and one top size, from what I can tell. I have many more clothes in smaller sizes, so I'm excited to purge the bigger stuff and work down from there.

I'm nervous I'm not losing as much as some others seem to do. I think I'm still eating too fast -- haven't slimed or puked or foamed, but a couple times I got too hungry between meals and ate fast/too much? Had that painful feeling in my chest, and once I had to lay down with the sweats.

Just worried this won't work. Probably irrational, but I just kind of almost can't believe it. I'm happy with my loss, but I still have so far to go.

Sounds like you're doing fantastic!!! Congrats! How do you get your Protein in?

@rososmom7, thank you. :blush:

I do 2 Premier Protein shakes a day; one vanilla mixed in my coffee in the morning, then another midmorning to hold me until lunch, so that's 60 grams there from 5:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.

I have a 20 oz Poland Spring mixed with Crystal light after that, so 2 shakes, coffee, and Water gets me to 50 oz of Water. I really try to hit my water goal by lunch so I'm not going to the bathroom all night later on!

Breakfast today was on the road, Dunkin Donuts' Wake Up Wrap (peeled off 1/3 of outer white tortilla.)

Lunch was 8 oz high Protein vanilla yogurt, about 2 oz granola, 1/4 cup raspberries.

dinner was a grass fed uncured jalapeño cheddar bratwurst, LOL.

Girl, you're doing fantastic!!! It takes me right up until bed time and I only hit water goals. Awesome - definitely an inspiration!

@@Heather I I too worry if the weight is going to come off. I'm only down seems like 1dress size. I stopped walking due to pain in my incision. Energy is crappy by the end of the day I'm poop and just need a nap. I get to start regular foods in a week but thinking about reverting back to liquids just to see the scale move. You seem to have your schedule down and it's working- congratulations . Keep up and hopefully we will see the results.

Hai,

I did my sleeve on 22nd September and lost 20kg(44p).

Now on semi solid diet and so far no problem.

Only thing no much exercises planning to go to gym from 1st.

Feels very confident and happy that I am able to control my overeating.

@bpowell, well, last week I GAINED 1.7, and it' wasn't PMS or anything. In fact, I made a point of sticking to 800 calories a day and walked 10K 4x a week, and one day I walked 17k in a day in a big hike with hills! I was PISSED, LOL.

I upped my calories to 1000, caught a cold and have been a slug. I LOST 4.8 in the past four days. Go figure.

So, while I'm thrilled to have lost the 1.7, plus more, this old body of mine is playing tricks! LOL.

I will say, I'm happy I'm scrupulously tracking EVERYTHING; Water, calories, Protein, carbs, fats, sodium, etc. It definitely reassures me I'm not screwing up -- it's just the process, I guess. I'm trying to be more laid back. Don't get me wrong -- I still want instant results and lose 50 lbs overnight and 3 pants sizes, LOL, but calming down and accepting that a steady -2 lbs, give or take, every week, is pretty damn awesome.

I do feel like the Water intake is a huge part of losing lbs. I don't know if it's in my head or what, but I honestly feel like I'm flushing out the fat hitting the water goals.

Went from a tight 22 to almost loose 18s. That's pretty cool. And I love purging my closets and moving back into my smaller sizes from eons past.

Love reading the posts from those 6-10 months out down 75-100 lbs. SO inspiring!

Hello friends! How is everyone doing with their food? My doc wasn't happy yesterday when I told him I was only getting 50g Protein and 500cal. Are y'all still struggling with eating enough? I'm cleared for all foods now.

Hi all,

I have to use good ol' willpower to keep it around 1000 cal. :P My average is 900 calories. I am a sloooow but steady loser, even the snail beats me  but I am content with a 1-2 lbs a week.

Hmmm, I don't do low-fat anything nor do I intake any artificial sweeteners (or sugar) though. I prefer whole foods so that means whole cream in my coffee. I love healthy fats like avocados, baked fish with olive oil and spices... Etc.

What I've eaten so far today:

S: coffee with 2T creme.

B: 3.5 oz Wild-caught Salmon baked with a soy sauce/natural Peanut Butter coating, 1/3 edamame

S: Watermelon 1 cup

L: 4 oz Cauliflower pizza recipe with extra cheese topping (no meat this time)... I really love this recipe lol.

Not sure what I'm going to have for dinner yet but I have left over grilled spicy Catfish in the fridge.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in. I'm doing better with my Protein, bit still working on getting all my fluids in. I stayed with a personal trainer this week. So walk a mile every day during my lunch break when weather allows and then do strength twice a week. I thought she was taking it easy on me yesterday , but I'm feeling it today! (Jello thighs)

I caught myself saying something yesterday I didn't think would ever come out of my mouth, much less meant wholeheartedly - I hate eating. I'm always in fear of that next bite being the one that will make me have a horrid feeling. It's only happened once, but never want to feel that again!

What is everyone eating as we close in on being cleared for everything? I am able to do eggs and a bite of sausage for Breakfast, Protein shakes, turkey meatballs in marinara for lunch, smoked salmon with cheese as a snack, and turkey burgers with avocado.

Kinda stumped on meals. Sick of chili and Soups, looking for more stews or meals.

Heather I am experiencing pretty much what you are. I am coming to realize that 1.5 -2 pounds per week will probably be all I can hope far. I was getting too impatient I guess. Keep it up surgery buddy!

@ButchLuce, yeah, I think I'm just being unrealistic and impatient, LOL. I am doing well -- 8-10 lbs a month is awesome, but for some reason I wasn't thinking that the 8-10 is coming off .5 lbs at a time, not in one or two dramatic chunks!

Plus, it's a little disappointing -- I'm down almost 40 lbs and no one seems to have noticed anything! What the heck? Just makes me realize how big I was that 40 lbs is a drop in the freaking bucket.

I spent an hour or so googling and printing recipes so I can go to the store this weekend. Found a lot from eggface and pinterest.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
