Brb.....searching for "silver bullet of peace" thread....

Thinking of starting a new thread titled, "Things I embrace......". I'm a staunch advocate for NOT embracing a stall. There other stuff that needs embracing. We can all pile on with the stuff we now embrace.

Again, hijacking my own thread...

Completely off "all" topics..

Exciting news-- my daughters choir-she is in HS- was just asked to take part in the Presidential Inauguration festivities.

What is really cool- and even though I can't stand her- is if Hilary is elected, they will likely have an even larger role since she attended the same HS and is from our home town...

I may not like the woman or her politics, but for the kids- what an amazing experience.

Yup. Doesn't cut it.... 36J. At my lowest weight I went down to a 34 J but I haven't been lower than a j cup since I was about 16.

Considering a reduction once I get to goal but I hear you lose a lot of sensation with reduction and I'm not sure if that's a trade off I want to make.

I would say that there are a lot of far worse choices you could have made in that situation for sure. I stay away from fast food altogether though....without exception. If I find myself out and about and getting to the point where I feel like I absolutely need to eat, I typically will stop into a grocery store and grab a salad or piece of fruit to hold me over until my next meal. Also, at the grocery stores here, they sell pre-made hard-boiled eggs and I will grab those as well at times.

I live in a larger city though, so perhaps convenience is an issue where you are at?

@@LisaMergs,

You did awesome! Great job on a last-minute fast food choice! It definitely wasn’t the healthiest possible food in the world, but it was an excellent choice given the circumstances. You got some Protein and kept the calories and carbs in check.

Nobody is perfect, and lessons like this are great. They show that you can still come out on top even if you make mistakes, such as in this case not planning ahead and having your own food with you, and not checking the nutrition facts before ordering. Good work!

I agree with @@Inner Surfer Girl that most fast food restaurants have reasonable options as long as you stop and think. Grilled chicken, eggs, side salads, and small burgers are usually possibilities – just skip the bread. Also, sides of fresh fruit including apple slices or yogurt are often available.

In general, I think it’s good to have some idea of what to order at some of the major fast food restaurants just in case you end up there. I always try to know what my choices are at McDonald’s, Subway, and Starbucks since I figure there is almost sure to be one of those restaurants no matter where I am.

I don’t tend to beat myself up over nutrition. I generally prefer healthy foods, and I know that even if I have some junk occasionally, I know that my diet is overall pretty healthy.

Anyway, good choice, and thanks for sharing your NSV!

I prefer Soma anyway. I've always had good service at the one here, and to me the quality of the undergarments is far superior to VS. highly recommend.

I ❤️ Soma. All my pjs and delicates are from there. For birthdays and holidays and anniversaries, I just send my husband the link and size of what I want or I just bypass him entirely and by it myself lol!

They have no reason to care at VS. it's a massive chain store and they don't make commission. They get tracked for how many store credit cards they sell. They aren't bra fitting experts like you might see at Bra Smyth.

Anyway I beat myself up anytime I fail to plan. I'm still looking for that perfect Protein snack I can keep in my purse for emergencies. I think it has to be an icky Protein Bar because I like perky Jerky too much and will just eat it it it's around.

That's so true about VS. At Sima employees get an hourly wage plus commission over a certain amount of a single sale which should mean they will be attentive and keep bringing you things to try on. They have sleepwear, intimates, loungewear and yoga wear. They will also measure you so you buy the correct bra size. I'm just over 40 (in age) now too so I sometimes feel like VS is a tad immature for me.

Thanks Alex!! I'm usually pretty "on top"'of things- but got "caught" in a bad situation. Better planning would have helped, but I think the lesson here, as you eluded to, is that we DO live in the real world of fast food and difficult choices. How we decide to move forward with the scenario we find ourselves in is what makes the difference in our eventual success or failure.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
