How many calories do you get in a day?

Recommended Posts

Just curious to see on average how many calories are you guys consuming daily? How far out are you? I am 3.5 months out and get about 850 calories.

For the first six months I stayed under 800 calories. For 6 months until goal, I stayed under 1100 calories. So it sounds like pretty similar to what you are doing.

Great question! You read my mind. For the past 4 months I have not really kept a strict record. But I believe I started at 400 calories right after surgery and I think I'm up to 1000-1200 on more days than not now. Crazy, but it looks like that might be too many calories for me to loose even 1 lb a week. Exercise is sporadic, not consistent, so that may be an issue as well. I feel like I'm at a point where I really have to reevaluate the calories as well as the Protein in order to continue the rate of weight loss I had before. I didn't want to have to track everything, but it looks like I will be more successful if I do now.

I'm just at 5.5 months and still average 800 per day. Also, my pouch hasn't seemed to change to accommodate any more than 1/2 c of food at a meal. One bite too many and I'm foaming. Hence, I eat one bite short of it.

I'm 2 months post op, and up until 3 days ago I was between 5-600. I went from 700, to 800, to 900 the past 3 days and am up .8 pounds. It's def because I'm eating 3 Quest bars as Meal Replacements instead of real food :(. They're so yummy, but today I'm back to real food and will only use a Quest bar in case of emergency.

Almost a year out and I have just started hitting between 8-900 calories a day.

In the early weeks, the amount of calories usually correlates with how far out you are.

1-3 Weeks: 200-300

4 Weeks: 400-500

6-8 Weeks: 600-800

I was at about 800-900 until about 6 months. Then I stalled out, and went up to 1000. That did the trick. At 2+ years out, I maintain on 1200-1300 and seem to gain anything over that (Boo!) When I need to lose a few pounds, I go back down to 800 and that works.

I'm 8-900 most days at 9 weeks out. Some days I go up to 1100. No idea how you all keep your calories so low!

My biggest fear is that I will screw up my metabolism and have to maintain at 1000 calories or lower when I am done losing weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
