I'm am there with you both. I started to cry reading these posts.

My parents said: "Your mother and I will love you when you get back to your fighting weight."

What I heard: We don't love you now, but maybe in the future when you are different...."

I was devastated.

And I will 'fess up and admit I here and before God himself I found myself yelling uncontrollably at my parents about unconditional love and the current lack of it. In all my years I have never raised my voice at them, I was not raised that way. I am ashamed my son witnessed the chaos. My husband hugged me and dragged me from the room. It was ugly and God hates ugly.

The relationship is strained now and therapy helps me work though the craziness of it all sometimes.

Many ppl on these posts keep reminding me that what I'm about to do is for me and No one else.

But ffs, a little family support would be nice.

Some really great replies on here already!

I've decided not to tell people for this reason. Good luck on your journey, I hope you and your baby get lots of sunshine playing outside ????

I feel your frustration. Smile broadly and blink. Lol seriously, you have to do what is right for you just like she does what's right for her.

My best verbal response I can come up with Awe thank you for your concern. Bless your heart.

I am in my 6th month for my insurance requirement and I have only told my husband, kids and sister. In six months my sister has never asked me about the surgery. I told her the other day to speak now or forever hold your peace. She said one word "nervous?" Literally one word in a half a year. I don't want to hear a thing after the surgery. I'm not even going to tell her my surgery date when I have one. I'm glad my husband is supportive because I've got no support there.

Maybe it's me but I don't see anything wrong with your sister not mentioning surgery. My sister has not said much except a few questions at the very beginning and I usually bring up the topic if we have discussed it since. She is supportive.

I am sending hugs and support. Just remember that you are doing this for you. Just think about how much healthier you are going to feel. I am looking forward to more mobility and I am dreaming of just being able to fit in a kayak and rowing til my heart is content. I hope you are dreaming of your own positive future.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
