When does hair loss begin?

Recommended Posts

Mine was about four months (I just started losing it). I know it will be a few months for it to grow again, but luckily I started out with a lot of hair.

I got sleeved 17th March and it's been falling out the last 2 months. I already had thin hair so it's noticeable to me, but no one else has noticed it, they just notice the strands of hair all over my knitted vest for work lol.

I'm so afraid of the hair loss. It already have lost and gotten thinner hair from my thyroid. I've always had longer hair but thin hair. I guess I will become the weave queen. Lol!

That's what I'm completely afraid of, I'm extremely thin on top in front already. I use powder type stuff now to try to fill in...

My doctor told me I can avoid hair loss if I'm diligent about getting sufficient Protein......he recommended 75 grams a day. I just had my surgery on 08/18/16 so I'm really hoping he's right.

lmao I got a minimum of 75 grams of Protein per day starting within 24 hours of surgery, and ate high protein for several weeks pre-op. I got my Iron. I got my Biotin. I got my zinc. And still, massive Hair loss. Let's face it -- if there were a sure fire way to avoid hair loss, none of us would lose hair. It wouldn't be a secret. It's not like people just don't care about losing hair and haven't tried basically every formula you can think of.

I had hair loss between months 3-6

has slowed down considerably

Vitamins, Protein, etc will NOT prevent Hair loss.< /p>

Of course not eating enough Protein etc will make the hair loss worse, but exceeding protein goals and taking Biotin will not make the hair loss go away, it will just make regrowth more consistent, and faster

look up telogen effluvium after surgery. that is the condition that results in hair loss after surgery

I totally agree with Crazyplantlady. My hair loss began at around 3 mths and lasted till around 5 1/2-6 mths. I was terrified the first time I found a huge (and I mean huge like a baseball size) wad of hair in my shower and continued to be until it just kind of slowed down. I have always had super thick wavy hair so I'm use to some light shedding but that scared the crap out of me. Anyway... I'm just over 6 1/2 months out and I'm glad to say I'm back to normal, phew!!! I did take all my Vitamins with Biotin and ate all my Protein but I'm not sure if it really helps. You may be one of the lucky ones who doesn't suffer with this!

Notice the men rarely weigh in on this topic? Seriously, is it a female issue for the most part?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
