Not sure about other people but I am a little over 2 months out and my new stomach doesn't tolerate potatoes in any form very well. I'm not sure why since I have heard that others are allowed mashed potatoes very early on but it doesn't sit right with me. I get a full feeling after a few bites and then it just refuses to stay down. Cottage cheese I do fine with but I know that you can become lactose intolerant after sleeve so maybe that's a possibility? How are you doing with other dairy products?

My stomach doesn't like eggs in any form. Before surgery I loved eggs and drank coffee all the time, but not any more. I haven't tried potatoes. I'm too scared to try new foods.

I am so NOT allowed potatoes yet and I don't even recall seeing it in my next stage when I'm 6-8 weeks post op. Only 2 1/2 weeks post op now. I've eaten the ricotta bake just fine, tonight it didn't sit well, but then again, I think I ate too fast. Didn't get sick, but didn't move around much for a 1/2 hour until I felt it settled.

I was very very sensitive for the first month or so, and I am still sometimes dealing with issues. Even today, 7 weeks out, I had a light coconut milk chia seed pudding that I made (very healthy) and it just didn't sit right. I felt seedy and like I had drank a litre of thick cream! It was too rich. I have even had chicken go 'straight through me' so it's just a hit and miss issue at the start for me!

Nothing has irritated my stomach so far but my diet is fairly simple. Certain foods my brain tells me is not a good idea like eggs. I love eggs but since surgery if I even think about eating them I get quezzy. If I ate them im sure I'd be ok. It's just the food i eat has to be appealing.

Everyone is different I suppose. I did well with mashed potatoes (which was allowed during soft foods stage) I also love and do well with eggs. Great protein!

The one time i tried eggs or cottage cheese, i was hugging the toilet for what seemed like hours. I haven't dared try cottage cheese again but i did try a bite of egg and it was okay. Im staying clear of dairy, it hasn't been kind to me.

I have to say silky tofu and hummus are new foods for me this week and im loving it.

Good luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
