What does your nutritionist say? For me, Water, Protein and Vitamin intake is key.

At my 2 week post op I was allowed to begin soft foods. Sick of the pre made shakes I have begun making my own which I drink in sips over the course of the day, while also eating about a quarter cup of lentil Soup and a bite of cheese here and there.

My surgeon told me that in a month or so I would probably take in about 600 to 700 calories a day. Currently I'm about 350 to 500 and while my energy levels are returning I'm not at 100% and get lightheaded when I get up from sitting or walking upstairs.

Is this common? Was there anything that you did to overcome that? Or is it just an adjustment that will take time?

Thanks in advance

HW 341 lbs

07/19/16 - 298 lbs

08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs

CW 270 lbs

At a month out I was eating between 200 and 400 calories per day.. try and make all of them Protein and get in your liquids.. I know some people say they're eating a lot more but it's actually what my surgeon recommended and it worked for me

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
