Hey All,

I'm with Kaiser in SoCal, Inland Empire. I am taking the orientation on 8/17. I'm excited, but antsy. I've been through the Kaiser Healthy Balance diet program before and the classes were a little tough to take. Like someone said earlier: The same questions over and over! Oh well. Small price to pay. I hope it doesn't take too terribly long.

I wish all of you luck.

Kaiser Denver - I was required to do a sleep study which was fine but they won't perform surgery unless BMI is 60% or less. I started out in Feb at 447 with referral, in June began phentermine, now down to 400 as of last week. Need to lose 17 more lbs by next visit Oct 20 to begin classes. That means i would be almost 70 pounds down to even qualify for the surgery. Classes are 6 weeks and even though most people lose weight during the classes they won't even allow me to start classes and continue on with the 17lbs loss during that time. Especially since it could possible take a few mths to schedule the surgery after that. Psych evaluation next week so will see how that goes.

Hope everything goes well for you. I started classes last Thursday. I don't meet the sleep study criteria so I luckily don't have to do that. Psych evaluation is super smooth and easy. If you're seeing Terry he is a super nice guy! Good luck on your journey!

Yes I met Terry yesterday! He was nice but kind of awkward as well (not wanting to shake hands kind of way). But hey we all have our issues, plus he made some good points about my own personality that I've been struggling with. I had my wall up going in but then eventually broke down so thought I wouldn't pass. But he told me I've made good progress and because I am already receiving counseling he approved me for classes. Whew! Thank God I got threw that. Now if I can get the go ahead for the classes on the 20th I can get this thing really going. Though I'm surprised to hear it can take four months to get approved and have surgery after classes. I was initially told it could take 1 month to 1 1/2 months. Maybe it's just that time of the year where people have more motivation to get in line.

I'm Kaiser, close to 14 months RNY post op. Took a year to get through the process, including 6 months of Options classes. It was so worth it. Good luck!

I keep bouncing back and forth between the RNY or the Sleeve. I start my Options classes tonight! I'm so excited. I have some time to decide, but I am also diabetic so the RNY would be best. Gah, what to do!

You'll figure it out in time. Just go with the one that fits you the best. I started dead set on the sleeve and ended up going with the RNY. I hope you get speakers in your classes, past Options post ops - that was the best part for me. Good luck!

For me, it has been a 6 month process at Kaiser Fremont Bariatric. Went to two seminars, got scheduled for an initial consultation with surgeon and nutritionist, then was placed on the reduced calorie diet. I began this process in late February. I received a surgery date in mid July for August 8 (one week from today). Which Kaiser are you going through?

I was sleeved and I'm with Kaiser Fremont

I'm going through KP Richmond (NorCal). It has gone very smoothly so far! Orientation class/first NUT appt was on 8/4, surgical consultation (Dr. Mostaedi) on 8/12, psych eval and RN coordinator appts on 9/1 (I was at goal weight so I was able to do both on the same day), and VSG is scheduled for 10/5. It's been kindof a whirlwind!

Dymeond I felt the same way about Terry. I was told it could take 4 months for surgery as well but at the first options class they said surgery is typically 6 weeks after the last class. My last class is October 6th so it should be around the middle to end of November!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
