Just found out my band slipped

Recommended Posts

I've been having difficulty eating for about a month. I went for an Upper GI & was told my esophagus was dilated. I went on liquids for a week & then tried food again. I was ok for a couple of days, but then started vomiting again. I called my dr again, they sent me for another Upper GI, which I had done yesterday. I'm back on liquids b/c I can't keep solids down. I found out yesterday my band slipped. I won't see the dr until next week. I've been reading a lot. I thought I was going to have to have the band taken out, but from what I've read they may be able to reposition it or "unbuckle" it. Not sure what to do, I guess I'll know more after I see the dr. Part of me wants this thing out, I've had lots of problems with eating, I've had the band for almost 6 years. I'm just so afraid of gaining all the weight back. You'd think after going through all of this, that wouldn't happen, but it scares me. I also don't know what to expect if the band comes out. The dr did say if I get to the point where I can't get liquids down, I have to go to the ER. I just want this over with.

I had band put in October of 2001. Yes 2001 that is not a typo. On july 19th 2016 I had it removed. Thank god, finally. I lost and gained about 30 pounds. I threw up constantly over that time frame and as I got older I could eat less and less healthy food choices. I started clean eating a couple years back. This is mostly fresh foods and very little processed food. I drink lots and lots of Water. Oh and my band has been empty since 2005.

when they removed my band it was coroded, the port moved and the tube was broken and not even attached. I am doing well with the exception of pinched nerve (self diagnosis) from my posture being askew for a week and for trouble getting in & out of bed.

That's my experiene. My advice get that nasty baby out and join WW. It's cheaper and proved to work. I've seen it 1000 times. I'm no longer a member, I prefer clean eating. Hope this helped, best of luck to you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
