August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

Recommended Posts

...I get that uncomfortable feeling under the rib cage when I run as well.

That's what I needed to hear. I don't think I'm dying, but it's definitely worse than a headache for a couple of hours after running.

I really do think it's related to wearing a sports bra. I work from home, so I don't always wear a proper support garment (I have free-range breasteses).

Hi all..

The scale finally moved...

I joined Weight Watchers on Thursday. I think that was it.

I am not quite sure yet.. but, I think this might be the trick.

I was not eating enough.. How can that be???

ha ha ha.

maggie.:huh2:

Maggie,

That is what is happening to me. I don't eat enough. I am having a really rough time getting consistent weight loss. Even the doctors don't understand. They told me to just plug along as well because I am losing.

I'm "glad" to hear that I am not the only one in this situation. I am not eating enough either, and what I'm eating isn't necessarily the best stuff (more crackers than fruit, etc). Anyway, I am going to try and keep changing it up to see if I can make some more progress. :huh2:

My weight loss has been stalled for about 4 weeks now so I have decided to give up all simple carbohydrates for 7 days as I have a weigh in with my doc on Friday. Two days in a row now the scale has moved downward and I am so thrilled that I don't want any more bad carbs right now. One of the secrets I have learned is to add more Protein. I have substituted one meal with one protein shake(I use no sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast) for either Breakfast or lunch and it seems to be a workin' for me. I love my band and my new life. I was able to ride my bicycle for the first time since college today(that would be 32 years). Never give up because life is better with the band.

I've had very good luck with the Protein Shakes. Almost every morning since I was banded I've started the day with a Slim Fast Low Carb shake. They have 20 grams of Protein each. Those of you who have trouble eating enough should give it a try. I eat plenty, but I still like to kick start my day with a big boost of protein.

It has been a while since I posted. It's nice to get a 'I miss you message even if it is auto driven. You all are doing so great. I had a dr's appt about 2 weeks ago and he was very impressed with my progress so far but won't give me another fill until I've not lost anything for a month. I do have sporadic restriction still and I've only had 2 fills my last one being in December. It seems psychologically I've lost it with eating and have allowed sweets and bad carbs (the ones that will go down) to seep back in. I guess i want that fill pretty bad. For the month of May, I am going to kick my workouts up. I've been walking 3-4 miles at least 5 Xs a week for 7 months now but think my body need something different. I still have a membership at Curves so I think I'll do the walking plus workout 3 x's a week at Curves. Again, you all are doing so great. I'm getting there slowly but surely.

I am still a slow loser, but as long as I am losing I am good with that. It has been several months since I have had a fill, but I am not sure that I want to be any more restricted than I am now, even if it means a faster weight loss.

Hang in there, slow and steady wins the race. :wink2:

I have developed a problem....in fact many.

After I eat anything I get a LOUD grumbling in my lower quadrant. No foolin it woke me up from sleep one night. Also, I am having terrible, stinky (sorry) gas,,,and its not coming up if you know what I mean. I am sliming on practically anything. My husband and I went to a dinner party tonite, where I ate good:

small dinner salad-6 sm bites

roasted turkey-7 small bites

BBQ beef brisket-7 small bites

mashed potatoes w/gravy-4 bites

au gratin potatoes-2 bites

NO BREAD---NO BREAD---NO BREAD---SO NO BUTTER!!!!

and a little tenee penee colada

No sliming with dinner this time. My meat was cut in pieces smaller than a sugar cube. Other foods bite not much bigger. We were planning on going to a party afterwards

(my first party since a year ago, I have an exciting life) I could feel it start to come on, I said we need to leave soon. Husband talks and talks, I keep trying to give him the LOOK. Talk, talk, talk, yack, yack, yack, he walks by says "anytime your ready". I said I've been ready, "bye everyone" "oh leaving so soon, you've only stayed 45 minutes" Gotta GO Gotta Go Gotta GO right now. I barely made it in our house, thru to the bathroom and sit down ----explosion. That is happening more and more. Thats not anything I want to do at someone elses house.

Is anyone else having ANY of this and what is causing it. The gas I get eating anything, it doesnt matter.

Please help me........................signed Toilet Lurker

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems. How long have you been having these symptoms? Have you spoken to your band doc? I think you should call your doctor first thing tomorrow. You definately should be checked out. Good luck.

Definetly go to your doctor tomorrow. I might not even call...I would just go in there and demand to be seen if that is possible for you. My doc would be mad if I didn't do that.

I have a confession - This whole bandster thing has been waaaaaaaaay down the priority list for me the past few weeks! I figure it's entirely allowed, since 1 - it's a lifetime commitment thing and isn't going anywhere, and 2 - I just moved cross-country and switched careers, for goodness' sake!

I'm still restricted and can tell the band is there, and I still stay away from breads and carbs for the most part, but I haven't sweated food choices at all, and it feels pretty good having a vacation from it for awhile.

I guess the test will be later today when I actually locate the scale in my stuff and step on. I have a feeling I've stayed the same or gone down a little. It would be a nice surprise to see the number finally get under 200, but I'm not holding my breath, since I haven't really been trying at all. We'll see!

Yep only 3 days apart! 169...that is freaking amazing! I was down 98 as of my weigh in today. I HAVE TO STOP LOOSING! I know...it sounds bizzare but my plastic surgeon really doesn't want me going below 150 and from what I have read on PS, docs really shouldn't take more than 10% of your body weight in surgery and there is a possibility that they will take 15 pounds. So go ahead and hate me...but I hope to report a 0 pound weight loss next week.

Whosya - you are AMAZING THOUGH!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
